Does anyone know what sort of buffer will fit on a Thor swingarm for C model RM? Tried the OEM one but its not going to fit very well.

Original Thor arms used a piece of stainless sheet formed to fit over the left side pivot area. Not wanting to go that route?

Yeah i have seen that on some but it normally only covers the side edge and not actually the the pivot area. Well thats what i have seen on the photos i have seen online.

I have a Thor on my RM370 and I used a NOS stock buffer from a 79 KX250 and trimmed it up.

Sweet bike! Nice paint on the tank...Smile

I have unearthed some old Thors in the past where a strip of 1/4 inch thick rubber had been riveted or screwed to the arm with some large diameter washers. Wrap it from top to bottom and attach it to the flat gusseted area. Could do the same with some plastic.

I'm not home right now to look but KLP replicated a thor arm for my rm. It came with a nice rubber one. You can try Karl. I can also post a pic later today.

LWC, yeppers that be mine. The paint is courtesy of Mr Newmann btw.
Sorry but no I do not have a p\n. It was just something that I had laying around at the time.
I am not sure that trimmed is the right word either, more like decimated the poor thing.
You know who from Washington will often times provide a buffer from a KTM 65 or 85 with his fabs.

KLP. Might have been an 85, sorry don't remember but will verify tomorrow. He used that on a Fox Factory replica arm though and not a Thor.

I posted this photo in another forum, but I have an aftermarket swingarm on my 78 CR250 and had the same problem. The solution was to go to my local Home Depot and in the plumbing department they sell these oversized rubber clamps (I think they are used to bring two large pipes together). Anyway, they came with oversized stainless hose clamps (so you will know them when you see them in the plumbing dept). I simply cut a chain guide out of this rubber and drilled some holes in my swingarm, then tapped the holes (for threads) and I have never looked back. I used my homemade chain buffer for 2 full seasons of racing with zero failure or issues. Below is a picture of the buffer I made.

The stock guard for the 76 RM should work on the pivot area. There are several on ebay to look at

Unless the 76 buffer is larger than the 78C2 then i dont think it will work.
