Does anyone have any leads on where to get clutch and front brake cables for my 81 CR125? I am getting down to the last couple of parts for my rebuild. I am still looking for a rear fender, rear wheel spacer, and some rear brake parts as well. Thanks!

Terry Cable is the only company that makes them for the 81. You can get them direct from there or through DC Plastics. Decent cables but they certainly wont pass for OEM if that is the route your going for.

No they don't need to pass for OEM - they just need to work. Do you know if any of the other model year cables will work?

Partzilla shows it as the 81 CR125 being exclusive on all three cables. That doesn't mean another year won't work, just that it doesn't share a part number so there must be some difference.

>VMX has a few goodies. Their plastics look real good too.

they are a great color match, and are glossy, but the quality (fit and so on) is about the same as Maier - vacuformed and thick.

I used the VMX plastics on my rebuild, I thought thy look great.

I ended up buying NOS cables from ebay, the after market stuff seemed cheap

The 82 front brake cable is about 4" shorter so it's a no go

That is the fun part, right? figuring out the differences. I swear, you become an expert on every part of any motorcycle you rebuild. Ask me anything about a PW50, a 2003 KX125, and a BMW R1100R!Woohoo

That is good to know because there are a few on ebay where they say it fits 81 and 82.

I thought the VMX plastic was fantastic, as close to OEM as possible. The shroud decals are available at VMX also

here is my pig a few years ago finishing it up

My VMX Fenders fit perfect.
Are those the fenders you speak of that are on your profile pic?
No. Those are factory fenders. I have since replaced them with the VMX fenders. The Honda wing decals were already on when I got the bike.
