Does anyone know the center to center spec on a CR480 con. rod?

I will get you that info but it will be a few days. It only varies a small amount from the 750 jetski rod, .020" if I remember correctly.
I would either go with a new Denton's kit if still available or the jet ski HotRods setup that I sent the info on in the other forum.
I am sure Stevie D. will chime in when he can.

Here is my concern. The 750 jetski is rated at 100 hp/ 3 cylinders equals 33 hp per cylinder. The rod is not designed to handle over 50 hp that the 480 produces. I may have found another rod that will work and it comes from an engine that produces 55 hp per cylinder.

Thought I saw one on eBay the other day for $400. Not cheap but figure you will only need to do it once. Smile

You could also check with Phil at crankworks.com, he often crosses over
late model rods for application like yours. Usually it may be slightly longer,
if it is longer your in luck. Cometic makes 82-83 CR 480 top end gaskets,
when they have a pattern like your bike they can make you a custom
gasket, spacer, shim to fit your needs. They use copper & aluminum for
their spacers, gaskets are normal paper type material or they have a metal
type with a bonded foam style material on it.....anyway, they always had
enough choices for ME to be able to address conrod/deck height issues.
If you do order some, their custom orders are generally 3 days to fill.
Good luck.

phil uses a Kawasaki jet ski rod. it shorter then the oem Honda rod. you gotta deck the bottom of your cylinder for it. he also does some other stuff to the crank for seal longevity too...

Ran across some old TSR software C-C rod chart today,
Listed is 1982-83 CR480 133.4 rod length. Little late but
hope it helps.....
