Hey guys for a bike with a 36-38mm Mikuni round slide carb, what are the best throttles out there now - the ones like the old Gunnar Gasser that the cable exits parallel to the bars? Seems like there is a lot of cheap looking plastic stuff out there. I want something quality and reliable to use on racers.
Thanks

Be sure you get the motion pro...there was a warning being posted a couple years ago on several vintage mx sites to watch out for cheap Chinese gunnar gasser knock offs. Some guy had some scary shit happen while riding or racing with a cheap one.

I'm using the newer style domino ktm 2 stroke throttle on 3 of my vintage bikes and really like them.

Thanks for the input guys!

I like that Gunnar Gasser from Speed and Sport - looks like the original with a metal body. I trust since it says it's from Sweden that it's not the cheap chinese knockoff - exactly the reason I made this post - didn't want to buy inferior crap that could get me injured or worse!

The Domino throttles by KTM are polymer I see, but I'm sure they're plenty strong.

I'm checking out the Motion Pro Vortex now - looks like a good throttle at a reasonable price and their Titan throttle tubes are available for them. Might just go that route.

The Gunnar Gasser that Speed & Sport supply is the genuine deal, has the "MADE IN SWEDEN" cast in the housing. I am aware of the cheap knockoffs available and spent a bunch of time to find these. I don't think that you can get a better throttle for a vintage bike for $40.

I'm intrigued by the Domino Throttle mention. The Whirlpool stocker on my '82 YZ125 is in pieces. Not worth $$$ rebuilding for a racer.

I googled the Domino KTM and see there are a bunch to choose from including different designs. I think I like the one with the pulley to turn the corner...

Can anyone post a pic of what to look for specifically? Which one works best etc? Thanks!!! Cool

Just to be sure... Like this one? Looks good to me... Thanks!

Just wondering about free length of the cable itself. I've had to cut down the sheath a few times to make things work...

That's the one.

I think mine still has an OE honda cable in it. (91 cr125) although I'm struggling to remember.
