Trojan Speedway....a guy named Jimmy Raymond was dominant there. Remember a lot of motocrossers got in one the action, racing flatrack & TT in Hallman leathers, rock at hers & chest protectors! Wanted the locals to know we were MXers!!

I remember riding there in 1986, I was 15. Remember seeing pros showing up during the week. Then rode there again in 89 a few times. Track had some fun hills and was pretty rough.

I lived in TO from 1970 to 1985. I used to ride in the hills and fire trails south of the Los Robles golf course everyday after school. If I was lucky, my Dad would take me to Muntz on Saturday mornings which was located between TO, Simi Valley and Moorpark. Occasionally we would go to Bay Mare which was further north towards Fillmore, Piru and Somis. I seem to recall rider's at Bay Mare were more hard corps MX rider's than at Muntz. It seemed like you got a lot of kids with Honda Trail 50s and 70s at Muntz. I know that the track at Bay Mare hosted some big MX races in the days before the Japanese bikes became dominant. I saw plenty of CZs, Husqvarnas, Bultacos and Maicos. I remember getting my first chest protector shortly after getting drilled with a large rock kicked up by a Maico 501 (my dream bike). My 1970 Yamaha MX 125 seemed like a toy after riding with those guys. I recall that Bay Mare closed down for some reason in the early 1970s. Then I had to go and get a girlfriend and that ended my daily riding. Pity.
