Let's get a thread started honouring all the young Americans who came over to chase Grand Prix glory in the 70's, 80's 90's. Guys like Brad Lackey, Jim Pomeroy, Danny Laporte, Donny Schmidt, Trampas Parker, Billy Liles, Bobby Moore, Danny Magoo Chandler, Jim Gibson etc.
Please post up photo's, stories and your recollections of these great riders were our heroes long before Supercross only contractsAngry came about!

Marty Moates, I remember he came to the British GP in '77 on the KSI.

They used to have 2 x's 45 mins free practice on Saturdays to dial the bikes in.

Marty did both sessions full bore for the full 45 mins , we couldn't believe it !!

No discussion of Americans in Europe would be complete without revisiting the perfect performance of the ’86 MXdN team of Bailey, Johnson and Johnny O in Italy. 1-2 in all three motos.

Didn't Laporte actually win his World Championship a couple of weeks before Brad Lackey? Maybe my memory is going, but I think that was the case.
