4/18/2009 1:19 AM anniebertmojo- It was great meeting you and seeing that beautiful collie and labrador too. That contact sheet from the Tony D birthday party is pretty darn wild. Let me see what I can do with that and just what I can show on this site.
Bauer- Honestly, it has been a busy week. Those four images will be to you in San Berdoo next week for certain. JeffreyD- Yes, I remember you and don't worry about not buying some of those pictures back in the day. All of my negatives are printing as good as before and more and more will be posted on the site. I will log your bike numbers down and will be looking for them. It's my pleasure to continually provide a service to you and other riders. RufRedBaron- I see that we have a common interest in motocross photography, My weekly schedule in 1975 included five races. I challenged everything there was to challenge in this sport from newspaper and magazine work to advertising for three of the motor companies. Keep working on those vintage bikes and things will become better...remember you live in Prosper! |

Looking forward to seeing what you come up with regarding the Tony D pics.. Just got back from a long 5 days at LB regarding business and the dogs are sound to sleep in my office with the ocean breeze coming through. Such the life..

I'm always looking forward to hearing from everyone that I took Old School Moto photographs for. Everyday I'm writing replies. You guys show a lot of heart... Tom,
I have the August 7th, 1974 copy of So Cal Motocross if for some reason you need it. This is Volume #2, Issue 30. |

5/9/2009 11:31 PM anniebertmojo- Perhaps we could meet at the same place so I can show you some results from the Tony D proof sheet. I will email you.
Joemx- So you knew Tony Gomez. I'm trying to figure out who you are. Send me an email please. Potts- Yes, I think that we could use that copy of the paper from 1974. It would be great to see you get back on a bike after such a bad high speed fall. I read your profile. How good it is to hear from you. Please email me. Craze- Thanks for calling me from Sam Boyd Stadium. I could hear the bikes practicing in the background. It was good talking with Wally too. And yes, my eyes are ultra light sensitive. That comes from working in a darkroom for most of my life. tcestudios@netzero.net |

Tom - No, I don't know Gomez. I have never met either of you. I'm from Northern California and remember Gomez from his racing days. He raced up here a time or two and that's where I saw him, plus write ups about him in Cycle News and other publications. Sorry for the confusion.

5/12/2009 12:46 AM Craze- Yes, I'm going to be at the Glen Helen National on Saturday, May 23. I will be the guy wearing the SADDLEBACK PARK shirt. Joemx- Thanks for letting me know that you are from Northern California. I was born in Stockton and then lived in Antioch. I wrote many racing reports about Tony Gomez in Cycle News and other publications. Tonight I rode past Bellflower Motorsports and that's the shop that sponsored #17B Gomez.. Check out the shot of him on the site at Photo ID: 71. Okay, here is another Old School Moto shot that I took from Anaheim SX1. From the left we have---Lyle Babi (Pro rider), Jim Gibson (Honda factory rider), Dave Miller (Mr. DMC and Miller Mano), Don Emler (FMF), Danny LaPorte.

Tom,
Jeff:
Tom as always your photos have stood the test of time, all are great classic shots of the stars that paved the way for the kid's today. I need to search the So Cal site and see if you posted any more photos from O.C.I.R 75 to 77 I lost those photos and would like to reorder, the pic's from Saddleback are the best we sure had some great times..... 5/19/2009 1:58 PM Scott 859- Thanks so much Scott! I appreciate your recognition of my photography. It was all a labor of love. Give me your bike numbers and I will search through the posted site and also the envelopes from OCIR '75 to '77. Just last week I made three 8x10 prints from '76 for Mickey Tedder on his #18 Whittier Honda bike. Yes, we sure had some great times at Saddleback and OCIR. Here's a shot from OCIR of Marty Miller and his unique turning style, while "Radical" Ron Turner goes to the outside...enjoy!

The 1974 Dodge van took me to five motocross races a week. I took this in 1977 at a CMC Motocross event at Irwindale Raceway, the final year of racing there. |

7/23/2009 11:56 PM Bruce McDougal and Morris Malone dicing at OCIR. I thought this was a great racing shot and used this for my envelopes and cards. Best of all, I'm still in touch with both of these guys. jimmie- Glad you found this site and it's good to hear from you. Craze- Yes, that van was really special and people still ask me about it. I drove it for 100,000 moto miles before it had a single problem. Nuklear- Dave happens to be Craze and he went with me to USGP and Hangtown races. I read your profile and now know that you were a fellow motojournalist. Thanks for saying hello. chipnice- Your dad was a great customer and certainly was a big help with me getting the new van. I do appreciate your recognition of my photography and all of the little moto rats will always be my friends. |

7/23/2009 3:24 PM Killer thread and awesome photo site Tom.
Did you make those little picture viewers? If so I bought a few. What's ironic is my neighbor who was a motohead (with a similiar name), took photography in HS and got some decent pics. His name was Tom Cosley (from Eagle Rock) I've been trying to locate him as I'm sure he has quite a HUGE stash of pics if he saved them. I think he took over his dad's buisness in Ventura. He took this pic, if you have any with the #591 or 54 that would be cool. I raced Saddleback, Carlsbad and the Dunes from 77 through 78 before I quit to go to school. Thanks, Gary |

CALVMX AT PERRIS RACEWAY- 70's bikes and racing is back!! I had an incredible time seeing many of my friends race there last Sunday. You should check it out...I'll be there whenever they host these vintage races. G-man- The viewers were taken by Mini Vues with the big motorhome. I made larger prints and had the blue van. Yes, I know Tom Cosley! He is my friend also but I haven't seen him in such a long time. That is a great shot of you and I will be looking out for #591 from my file during '77-'78 at Saddleback and Indian Dunes. abn166- Hello Andy! Glad to hear that you like the site and even found a shot that I took of you. Are you still going to the Costa Mesa Speedway? Todd Peterson, Dave Miller and I were there for the Harley night. |

I do remember now the Mini Vues motohome and you're van. I had a brown chevy van just like it. Thanks, Gary Chaidez #591 and #54 |

7/25/2009 2:54 PM I had over 200 Mx pictures from the 1970s and 1980s that were lost when I went to college in 1983. I wish I had them now! I have about 40 left.

JeffreyD wrote: Tom,
I am thrilled that you are willing to dig out all those photos from back in the day.
man, how many times I have wished I had bought many more of the photos you took of me.... I only have a couple. I do have a small box full of "mini-vues" (I think that's they were called back then), though!
You may or may not remember me.... I rode Bultacos from 1972 through 1976, then switched to Yamahas from 1977 to 1980 or so. I had to retire due to injuries. CMC numbers were 99, 44, 46A, X98, 129, 444 and others.
You have done a great service to all of us riders, then, and now.
God Bless,
Jeff Deal
