93 & 96 CR250 projects - looking for parts

That would be great if you could look into reproducing your ignition cover and, when we find one, a clutch cover. If you could get a few made and find out how much it is going to cost, lets get it in the works. There are quite a few folks on here that are interested it sounds like. It's the next best thing to finding original works parts. I saw that Turnerdan CR250. I'd love to get my hands on some of those works Honda CR parts. My dream would be Henry's CR that was on Racer X awhile ago.

No, that is a CR250 cover. But sure, I'll post another. Here's one from JMB's '91 CR250. Yes youre right it's 250 cover
but it has five bolt patern and it must be the complete asembly then and I wan't the six bolt patern one ? |

9/30/2009 9:13 PM I think I'd try tapping them and cleaning out the threads. If that doesn't work weld new ones on.

I going to the shop tonight so I let you know tomorrow. I'll make a list of all the stuff I have left over and put it up here before I list on ebay.

if the gods is thick, tap in helicoils and it's even stronger than before |

Not sure... Its FL and I dont use it. Curious... how much would you offer for the piece?
Are you interested in selling it? Would you take $100+shipping? Sorry... I just returned from Ohio. I will sell it for $200 + shipping.

you can always take one of these Service Honda billet covers http://www.servicehonda.com/parts/SH_Parts.html Yeah those are pretty cool but still not the same. I may have found one in England. Waiting for the guy to get back to me. bd says he has one too but he hasn't emailed me back.
bd, if you read this, email me when you get a chance. Does anyone out there happen to know where I can find a 92-96 CR250 Stock Pipe that is in perfect shape? |

10/14/2009 7:54 PM Is anyone still interested in a sand cast ignition cover for the 1987 CR250R? At one time I had one of these for restoration, but it proved to be one too many projects. I still have this cover and some other parts : new plated PC pipe, NOS foot pegs, NOS radiator cap etc.

I know it will be pricey but I do not think Honda has discontinued them yet, the OEM Pipes that is, or you can try to contact every person with one of those bikes for sale and ask if they still have the stock pipe sitting around, it worked for my 01 RM. Ebay too, even if it's not in good shape there are many pipe repair places that could fix it for you paint and all.

10/24/2009 7:54 PM that 96 mc replica is the berries.
this is the same era that I want to build 93-96. Are alot of the parts interchangeable on these years? I was reading ahrma's post vintage rules and it looks like the cut off date is early middle 80's. No long travel or disc brakes. Is there anywhere to race this era of bike? Once again, hell of a job on that bike. |

Thanks eagle! I'm building a 93 right now. Pretty much all the parts are the same. The motor is pretty much the same from 92-01 except minor porting and ignition changes. I rode the 93 in the disco class at some EVO races. It is a really short bike and it handles really quick. The 96 is a lot longer but still handles good and is more stable. I'm going to be selling my 93 when I finish it. I'll post some pics soon.

how come your sellin the 93? I'm just gonna turn this one and try to make a couple bucks so I'm painting the frame, re-zinc plating the hardware, putting a 19" rear wheel on it, etc. I got it pretty cheap so I couldn't pass it up. It is a really low time bike and will be a perfect example of a 1993 CR250. At first I was going to build this bike into what my 96 is since everyone says it is the best handling model CR but it would be hard to use it with the 06 CRF250 forks. So it will have stock forks and shock with stiffer springs and lower oil height just like MXA recommends. The head tube on the 92-94 is not as tall so it needs a shorter steering stem and smaller bearings.

10/26/2009 12:36 PM Explains why mc loved that 93 geometry so much for sx.
Didn't know they changed the dimensions so much in that 4 year span. Had the 125 & 250 96's and loved them both. |

mosslander wrote: I'm sorry my ignitioncover is not for sale but I can make a moulding plug of the cover and make a copy of it .
My factory cover is unpainted and have the same logo as that one shown at the photo above.
By the way, I'm looking for the clutchcover for my 87 CR250 Rick Johnson projekt.
nine1seven wrote: So you have an ignition cover like the one picured above? That would be great if I could get one to cast a copy from. I know a place where I could get it done in Magnesium. I'll check with them on what type of molding I need to make it happen. I bet if I get a number of them made I would get a better deal...
I will let you know if I find a clutch cover and we can do the same thing as with the ignition cover.
mosslander wrote: Yes brother I have! and moulding it in magnesium sounds great
the big problem is to make the mouldingplug a little bigger becouse the shrinking when
the part's cooling and the fitness may be second but I know som good worker's in the
casting industri that use to fix those problems and I will ask them to make some of it and you can have one aswell.
