1995 and up side valves have smaller porting which allows you to modify them to work on 93/94's.

RH 12005-1183
LH 12005-1182

Here's what I started with, you should be able to use other part numbers

RH 12005-1211 1995/1996
LH 12005-1242 1997

The gear positions are all the same, just the valve port needs to be widened about 2-3mm on top and 1-2mm on the bottom. There is a fraction of a degree of angle to the flat sides of the ports so try to keep that, don't make perpendicular cuts.

I used a marker to mark what I was cutting away, took most out with a cutoff wheel, then used some files to finish taking various measurements from the originals along the way. Took about an hour.

Typical wear, twenty years of steel meshing with aluminum.

Cool work, Kid. Have you thought about having these hard anodized? Would they last longer? Or, would there be some kind of low friction coating? If you've gone to all this trouble and want to ride the bike, would any of these ideas be useful?

Hard anno is a good idea. I didn't make these as a necessity, just something I wanted to see would work or not. I had the 12005-1211 for a few years now (before it was discontinued-lol) and just got the other 97 valve to see how they'd work. Just some spare stuff laying around in case I ever get another project.

Very impressive! Your knowledge of KX parts is outstanding. I worked at a large Team Green dealer in the northeast in the 90's and one year it was actually ranked #1 in the country. We sold sooooool many KX parts that I committed all high movers to memory and earned the nickname "the human microfiche". I always thought KMC had the best parts numbering system of any manufacturer, very logical and easy to comprehend with prefix numbers and suffix numbers. Eg: all valves are 12005-**** with a suffix number differentiating them. The good 'ol days!

Nope. Had a time looking for powervalves for my 1989 KX125 restoration a few years ago. I tried some new KDX200 power valves but they were not close to fitting.
