Wow, awesome work! I was never a fan of these bikes when they were new but you've done a stellar job on them and they look great. Thanks for the memories.

Yes i worked at the Yamaha dealer and i raced them in the eighties i never rode anything else, last year before i did the 490 over i did a vintage race on it wow what a peice of crap they are just for the eyes now, but im sure i could have been a super star had i only worked at a Honda dealer!

That first picture of the YZ250, what is in the airbox? It looks like grapes or acorn's or something?

I have an 87 YZ 250 that I run in Vintage hare scrambles. It has Pro circuit suspension from back in the day and I have installed a complete 89 YZ 250 ignition. It's a fantastic hare scrambles bike. Smooth, 4 stroke like power and cushy suspension. I like it in this application.

The 250 is a great bike. Once the forks and shock were fixed, Race tech used to have a cheap mod for the forks. Greenbacks, aka Ohlins, fixed the rear.

Great work!

My first race bike was an '87 YZ 80. Those bikes bring back some good memories! In '88 the local shop had 1 new leftover YZ 80 and 250. My dad kept trying to work a deal and get them both....turned out he only had money for 1 and I got the new bike and he picked up a used '87 CR 250...a great bike itself...but it sure would of been neat for us to have matching all white YZ's. I always thought it would be cool to restore and give him an '87 YZ 250 as he sacraficed having one for me.

What are you using for a front brake on the 250? I'm working on a project and I need a 85-88 YZ 125/250 front brake system. Your 250 has a Honda style brake line?

the master cy land caliper are stock and the hose is from a 08 crf fits rite on and its a lot less than the 275 yamaha wanted for the stock hose, all the hoses were routed like that back then it wasnt called a "honda style" till upside down forks

Well you had to get a 12! They have new ugly graphics for 2012 that you will pull off the second you get it home.
