Edited Date/Time 5/5/2017 11:48am
Hey guys I'm new to this forum but anyways I recently bought a 84 yz 100 2 stroke for $100 off of a friend that wanted it out of there yard so I bought a set of rings for the bike put them in cleaned the carb and it would not run but kicking it so I rolled it off a few times and it Finally cranked and ran for about 10 seconds and was taking gas good ran and sounded good and then it died and I tried everything to get it to crank back and it won't do nothing doesn't even act like it wants to run now and it's getting fire and it's getting gas and has compression enough to blow my finger off the plug hole when I kick it over and it has a new spark plug in it as well I'm just kinda stuck right now idk wht to do at this point hopefully u guys can give me a idea of wht to try and wht I'm doing wrong thank

Make sure the Pilot jet is for sure clean. I picked up a barn find YZ100 years ago and had some similar problems. I had cleaned the carb well but the pilot jet has tiny holes in it and I just could not get it cleared. I grabbed a new one from the Yamaha shop and put it in the carb. Ran beautifully after that. I would really love to find another one of those bikes. I really liked it. They are rare up here in Canada. Good luck.

Ok I'll try that maybe that is it because the one time it did start was when I was giving it throttle and they are really rare here in the US to in North Carolina where I'm at its kinda like the old yz 490 they where everywhere and now they're almost impossible to find

Just in case, I need to mention that I'm looking for a YZ100 for my buddy to race at Diamond Don's in April. You wouldn't sell it, would you?

Well I might but I'd rather trade for another bike if anything preferably a 2 stroke but 4 stroke is fine to me to

I've seen a pic of the bike and I honestly don't know what the model and year is. Definitely not an 84 YZ100.

it's a twin shock with non-yamaha plastics.

Sweet RT100. Used to have one as a play bike when I was a kid.

If you find a way let me know. I'll have to hunt my old one down.
The motor on it has been used by yamaha for years, its a solid old vintage motor. Lots of hope ups available.

The RT100 was basically the old MX100 (that came from the older DT100) with different bodywork. Slow, but reliable bikes.

Loving these trick YZ100's and the racing of them. Unfortunately, don't think 100cc racing is such a thing here, although would love to wring the neck off a 100 against 125's, that would be fun!

I had/ raced a 79 YZ100F and also a 1981 YZ100H back in the day, aged 12-14- both very fast but maybe did not handle/ turn quite as well as the RM100 of that time, quicker though I reckon and probably would have chose the YZ over the RM. A few luckier riders had the DG heads and other mods also for this era at the time.

I know where there is an 82/83 YZ100, not totally complete but engine/ frame and suspension seems all there and engine turns over. Kind of tempted to go check it out after seeing what people are doing to these and also their rarity.
