I have more play than I would like in the lower shock bushing/upper swingarm bushing.

The lower shock and upper swingarm bushings seem worn. There is too much play. The bolt is in good condition. The bushings dont seem to be a replaceable Yamaha part? Does anyone sell bushings? or rebuild the shock and swingarm bushings? I've cleaned them up and lubed them with waterproof grease, for now...get a bit of a 'clunk' when I jump the bike...

I have an NOS shock bushing from a 79 full size YZ... Check part #"s & see if they are the same, I paid 50.00, will sell for 25.00 plus shipping.

I see they have the swing arm pivot kit available here. Might call and see if they have a fix for the upper.

Thx...my swingarm pivot bearings and collars are good...The worn bushings are in the upper swingarm where the bottom of the shock attaches/ pivots...I can see a bushing in there...but doesn't show up on parts list...
I'll call as you suggest...

Ahh...I tried to correlate the '79 lower shock bushing number, but I can't. The '78 parts diagrams do not show it as a replaceable part. The '79 parts diagram shows the replaceable part....but it looks a bit different, to me.
I'm no expert...the '78 and '79 lower shock bushings look different to me in that photo.?
Maybe...the answer is to use a '79 shock in the '78 chasis so it is rebuildable? Does a '79 shock fit in a '78?

I'm sure someone on here knows the answer to the 78-79 shock upgrade, I am not sure...my vast knowledge of useless vintage information is limited to Suzuki"s. Mine may be the upper bearing, I bought both for my 79 yz400 & only replaced 1 of them, I remember I had to visit a friend to use his press to replace it, I thought the shock was going to break, it came out so hard....if it is a serviceable part try Speed & Sport Yamaha in PA, that is where I got all my NOS YZ parts

Thx...I'll be patient...I can't be the first with this question and this forum group seems very experienced.
It looks like the same issue with that upper swingarm bushing...it shows up as a replaceable part #38 in the '79 swingarm diagram (bottom), but is not shown in the '78 diagram. So, again, if the bushings are the same...then I can rebuild a '78 upper swingarm with '79 bushings....or I have to get a '79 swingarm to have it rebuildable if its compatible with a '78 chassis...? Kinda the same questions.

My guess is that the 78 and 79 suspension parts are different dimensions. The 77 and 78 would interchange
