Picked up this 98 cr125r about 6 weeks ago off of Craigslist for $650 delivered. It ran when I got it, however it had a screaming high idle. It was pretty dirty and a bit beat up but that's how I like them Smile It had a good amount of period race parts on it, Applied triples, Pro-Circuit suspension, Pro-circuit foot pegs and FMF exhaust. I had before pics and tear down pics but I broke that phone two weeks ago... Sorry! I still may be able to recover them. We'll see... I've been buying parts on the trusty ol' eBay and I've got almost everything in so far. I'll create a list and post that with current photos of the project. So far I've done the following:
-Clean and degrease EVERYTHING!
-Polish frame and swing arm
-Grease suspension and steering bearings
-Lose linkage needle bearings...
-Paint non-polished sections of frame and swing arm
-Lube and paint brake calipers
-Paint and polish engine
-Top end refresh
-Drained bank account

Thanks JM! Some plastics came today so I laid up the graphics for the left side. Here's a quick mockup snap:

I like how the frame was done. The contrast between the frame and engine looks great. What paint did you use?

VHT Wrinkle Plus on the engine and some Home Depot flat black on the frame.

Here it is without the stained UFO frame guards:

Stiched up some Adidas stripes for my seat. Added an Adidas patch as well. Thoughts?

Thanks! I need to stretch the front tighter. The fitment was just "ok". Finish line is in sight! Hopefully for my birthday in a couple weeks Smile

Do you have any history on the bike? That sounds a lot like my old race bike. We sold it in '99 to a guy that was moving north, I'm in the Atlanta area.

Bike was from California and purchased in Vegas.

Ah ok, very cool. Good looking build! I've got a sweet spot for those bikes.

Sorry, I didn't see your post until just now! I had originally planned on powder coating a bunch of parts but decided against it. I didn't have a powder coat hookup in Vegas and didn't want to spend the money. It's just polished and painted. I may still powder in the future as the paint isn't very durable, however, I don't know if I'll even ride it enough to damage it very much.
