Hi guys , I have recently bought a 1996 CR125 that is undergoing a rebuild .
I have read that there are tuning mods from standard that help raise the rpm up to 12-12500 rpm .
These included change the barrel to a 1992 and the cylinder head to a 1991 with a domed piston , also fitting 1999 power valves .
A few questions , 1/ will this all work
2/will the 1996 exhaust still fit or do you have to fit a 1992 exhaust and adapt
3/ will just fitting a domed piston to the 1996 barrel and fitting 1991 head be better than stock.
4/ does anyone else have any better ideas of tuning the 1996 to make it a revvy machine ?
Many thanks in advance
Philip

An exhaust can also affect where the bike revs as will carburation in my experience all of these things will move power up or down but compromise elsewhere
Porting /increasing compression and other mods will help smooth out those compromises to suit where you want your curve and power
If your going to increase compression you may consider a race fuel Vp C12 or elf do a similar one this help avoid detonation
Oval boring the carb is another mod used to increase top end but will work best with a different ignition timing or CDI as well as race fuel
Most mods work well as a package and you are best discussing this with a tuner or two to try and pool their knowledge and decide a way forward
Or you could just buy an RM haha
