Hey guys, I thought i'd document this build here. I've always loved 90's MX bikes and have restored a few before. This one is a '93 YZ250 in pretty bad shape.

The idea is to create a replica of Damon Bradshaw's '93 works bike:

First step has been completed - stripping the bike down. I don't think there was one original nut or bolt left on this bike. It's been unloved for some time.

Here's a short time lapse video of the tear down:

Do you have the graphics and seat cover lined up already? I did a Jeff Emig replica. You can search in these forums.

In talks with evo-mx but nothing sorted yet. Where are yours from?

Yours looks great, seen it before!

Thanks. I got the graphics from Kae-Rae Graphics. Kim has them ready to go. She is good and very accommodating if you want to make changes.

Looks great.. My 1991 WR 250 is asking for a resto.. I'd like to know if there is parts and plastics available for the bike before I commit.
Where do you find your plastics and parts?
The black and white scheme is my favorite.. Looks sharp!

I know for my '93 I was able to get genuine Yamaha fenders, front and rear number plates radiator louvers and one radiator shroud.

The tank i got from Clarke, the fork protectors are UFO and im yet to get the remaining radiator shroud.

GDLKEN -- the 93-95 YZs (and WRs) are a different generation than your YZ-WR. You can get what you are looking for by searching for 88-92 YZ250 plastic from UFO and Clarke. I've responded to your post on this with more specifics.

The little black dog in the time lapse Vid is great! Trying to work out what he/she is doing exactly, is like its helping to dismantle it or something and keeps inspecting and checking things! Cute little dog and hopefully will be cute bike also.
Good luck with rebuild.

1993 Factory Yami's were killer. Can wait to see the final product.
The Emig restoration looks sweet.

Those were the coolest bikes. It might be a little sacreligious but I'm going to buy the one industries kit for my yz250f and do a 93 Bradshaw replica. I just need a purple seat.

Jave Have PitRepkica, the seat guy in Thailand make you the seat cover. And ask him to give you an extra 1/2 of material all around

Pulled down the engine on the weekend:

Now time to buy some more parts and look to reassemble. Going to try hydroblasting the aluminum parts.

As someone else mentioned, Kim @ K-rae graphics in MA is incredible. She's super accommodating. I had her tweak stuff, add sponsor logos, etc, she hooked it up. That's an old pic, I've done a little more towards making it more accurate, but its still a work in progress.

Managed to find an original YZR seat!

A bit rough around the edges but I'll use it to replicate another.

That's awesome. Tony from Ceet Racing helped me out with mine. That's a CEET, I bet he'd have no problem replicating that for you, shit, I'll take one too, lets set this up!

Tony at Ceet did my seat with the material I sent him. It's ok but he couldn't do the pink highlights on the Yamaha, or the YZR emblem. Also, the originals had two different materials- a suede of sorts for the center section. It looks like yours is all one material. Definitely a nice start to build from though! Nice find!

Photos from showroom in 93. The Swedish importer did a conversion to 19/16 wheels

One of my favourite parts of a restoration - rebuilding wheels.

Rebuilt hubs, Excel rims and spokes.

Hello, could anybody give me the RAL colour code of that frame? the purple
If all else fails, maybe find a 1994 yz 80/125/250 subframe off eBay for cheap and match that color. From what I understand, the 1994 frame was the Emig/Bradshaw inspired color from their '93 factory bikes. I have the '94 yz125 and the color is perfect.

I don't know about the RAL color code but RyanLester761 is correct - look to the 1994 frames. Deep Violet Solid #1 - DVS1.

I'm yet to get any paint mixed up.

I painted the original purple frames for the Yamaha team in the fall of 1992. We used House of Kolor purple shimrin base coat. Their system has changed a bit over the years, but I believe the current part number is S2-10 Pavo Purple. It would be a good starting point. The color on the next year production bikes was not quite the same color, it was more of a pastel. I had many YZ's of this time period- loving the build so far.
