Love that our era of bikes is finally being recognised with the introduction of Super Evo classes, it's amazing all the trick bikes getting built and cool parts finding their way out of storage.
denton's work is top drawer, it's the small details that count and you're not neglecting them. Look forward to seeing this finished.
Had Ryno from Dare Decals sort me thermally printed backgrounds on custom templates, clear fork guards with flo colours, pc fork wraps and Twin Air airbox. The glue on my original decals had started to fade a tiny bit on the odd one, so pulled them and re applied fresh thick clear glue to them, supplied by Dare Decals, now all 100%!
The Shop
NOS Bridgestone M22 and M77 tyres turned up today too! All the hard to find parts all found now! Just final few parts to turn up/collect and i have everything!
Fitted up perfectly with new tubes and rim locks
I also sourced K695/K490 Dunlops for my McGrath replica - its a nice touch and nice to know the tyres are obsolete, but also on your bike - making it that much more special.
I think i'm beyond OCD with this thing!
All new genuine Honda bearings and seals, new complete crank, piston kit, bolts, washers, gaskets, clutch, springs etc etc.
Kickstart shaft, gear shift shaft, powervalve arm, cylinder and head studs, clutch actuator arm and exhaust manifold all worked and zinc plated.
New original drilled sprocket, titanium spring washer and titanium drilled bolt (ill lock wire it later on). New genuine reeds and sprocket guard too. Cant wait to fire it up!
Pit Row
I don't know if they were used on the '92 bikes, but I found some HRC zip ties (cable ties) on Ebay, $4 each but a nice touch.
(was looking at rad overflow pipe thinking one would go nicely there!)
OnedayWhip, I think they used normal cable ties but what do they HRC ones look like and I can cross-reference them! The overflow hose is yet to be cut to length once rads are finally fitted, and tied to frame... Thanks
Found some serious unobtainium to put the cherry on the cake! An original sandcast Pro Circuit ignition cover. They were used on the team bikes only in 92, so i cannot believe i found one!
The guy who had it is also british, and at the end of 92, he had the option to buy a genuine mcgrath peak 125, or a brand new 93 cr125. Because he was 16 and had never had a brand new bike, he went with the new 93, that cost £2500, then his dad bought the £5000 (around $8500) Peak Pro Circuit package with everything that mcgraths bike had basically. He got this cover through CGH Imports (Pro Circuit UK) as a special deal with the parts he bought that year, and this was the only thing he had left of his motocross career. He loved my build anyway, and after a little hassling he agreed to sell it to me knowing it would go to a good home!
Can't wait to show you guys the finished product, shes a looker if i may say so myself!
After all the effort you've put in, you (and the bike) deserved it.
