I milled the bore on my kickers and made sleeves then pressed in the sleeve and drilled out the retaining bolt, takes some time and patience but they cam out nice so far I did my 83, 89 and the 88 I was just looking at, last season I slid a piston Cclip on the post to tighten up the sloppiness.

I check and see if I have some photos of the process in my phone.
I have a 2013 KTM 250 sx I'll see if the splines match up

The post I had found that mentioned fitting a KTM kickstarter was on Thumpertalk I believe. It was an Australian dude with an 88'. He had very little details. He mentioned that he used a Hammerhead brand aftermarket kickstarter from a late KTM 2 Stroke 250/300. I had kept a picture of it. I am pretty sure he also mentioned that he put the hammerhead kickstarter on the Honda pivot knuckle. Here is the Picture.

I looked on Hammerhead's site to find a KTM one that looked the same. Here it is. http://www.hdmoto.com/product_p/70-0563.htm

It does all look like it would work well. I am curious if it actually fits the kickstarter spline on the Honda or you have to swap it to the Honda knuckle as I believe I had heard.
Now another question. Anyone know of a good fitting option for a brake pedal to fit these bikes? I am working on mine to machine and install a bushing and new tip as the ones I have are just beat. I would like to find a good option to fit a nice factory or aftermarket brake lever. That Australian bike in the picture above has a Hammerhead brake lever as well but he had never mentioned what the application was from.

Surely looks like the KTM kicker, I like the feel of it on my SX wide area for your foot and not so darn high. I will be in the shop tomorrow evening and see if it works

Finished up the 125 with 08 CRF forks, the 24mm offset was to twitchy so I bit the bullet for 22mm offset applied triples, pretty sexy looking, the bike is working so good, killed my buddy on his YZF250f

There it is, easy swap, 2013 KTM 250sx kicker on an 88 kicker spline
And the KTM kicker has a better foot print

That Kicker looks to fit better than the Honda one. Does it stay clear of the engine case, frame and brake lever as it kicks through? I also wanted to be clear, did it have to use the old Honda kicker knuckle or did the complete KTM kicker go on the spline coming out of the engine? Is yours n OEM KTM Kicker or aftermarket? Glad to have one more good option for parts to keep these old bikes running like new.

Had to use the Honda post splines are different, finer on the KTM, the kicker is much better that it's no so tall, foot pad is wider and the kink in the curve of the lever matches correctly against the foot peg. Deffently going to perform this mod myself. One thing the KTM lever doesn't have a detent like the Honda that uses the ball and spring to hold it in, this will need to be drilled out to make sure the lever stays tucked in while riding. I can post the mod if you like

Excellent!!! I was looking at hammerheads website and just wondered if anyone had looked at a CRF150 kicker. Maybe slim odds it's the same splines? Be great to have a direct bolt on if the lever was the rightish shape...

One thing I noticed, the length reduces leverage, and the amount of revolution the crank turns over, I don't believe this mod will work well on a CR500 just to much comp.

After scoring this 88 CR last season at the beginning of our local series I didn't have much time to perform a frame off rebuild.

Then seeing Chuckie's unbelievable restoration there was no way to top that with the budget my wife allowed.

For most part it's a straight forward, frame powder coated, where it got fun was installing a 2008 CRF front end, along with some trick VFR parts I had acquired.

Sweet, What did you do to the triple clamps to make them fit on the 1988 heatset?

Who did the 144 cylinder and head? I’m restoring my 88, and was considering the same.
