That thing is beautiful. My first real bike was an '82 RM 80, so I've always been partial to the whole Suzuki line from that year.

While you have the wheels off you should check/grease all the bearings. You coming to Cooperland? Bring that badboy. I would pay ONE DOLLAR to do a lap on that bitch.

5/30/2009 8:40 AM Cool old ads as always, Lee. Everyone seems to say the same thing about the forks so I guess I need to find a set of 43's to race with. The 38's on it are perfect so I might as well stash them away for safe keeping. I've seen some folks mention that the YZ 43's would work as well as the forks from the RM465/500 and the 83/84 RM250. There is a lot of Yamaha stuff out there so hopefully that's the case.

6/8/2009 4:48 PM What a difference some graphics make. With some fresh rubber and chain/sprockets I may even be ready for the AHMRA national coming up in a few weeks.

That thing looks mint, man! Who did you end up getting the graphics from? Thanks. I got the graphics from Vintage Suzuki. Hopefully they'll last more than one ride. Gas tanks and decals never seemed to work that well together.

6/29/2009 6:58 PM Well, I'm almost ready to hit the track! I found a set of 84 RM250 forks that I'm setting up with RT emulators and stiffer springs. Cannon Racecraft is also making a stiffer rear spring for me that should be in by the end of the week.

6/29/2009 8:16 PM Man, that brings back a lot of great memories I have of the 83 I had. A set of 43mm's with a disc brake will be a great upgrade!

6/30/2009 9:58 AM WOW Cam great job!
I'm extremely jealous. An old Suzy Full Floater would be the perfect old scooter for me. Not into restoring any of that old Euro stuff, Full Floaters actually WORK! |

7/20/2009 10:27 PM Got a call from the previous owner yesterday and he said he found something for me. Needless to say I was stoked when I went to his place and he pulled out the original MSO for the RM. Not to many 27 year old dirt bikes with any documentation so I thought that was too cool.
![]() I'm getting pretty carried away with this vintage thing. Check out the NOS JT jersey I picked up off Ebay. Anyone have a matching pair of JT Suzuki pants in 36? I know it's a needle in a hay stack but I'll pay the price to get my hands on a pair. ![]() |

7/20/2009 10:27 PM I also found a guy down under doing some pretty good DG Jersey reproductions so I couldn't resist picking up a couple of them.

7/21/2009 4:41 PM Hey CamP, looking at that MSO, it shows 42.5 h.p. Is that accurate? I didn't think bikes were pushing that kind of power until the early '90s. I thought that was about what my '92 CR put out.

7/21/2009 5:34 PM Based on the couple of shake down runs I've made, I'd say that's accurate. This thing is feels about the same weight as a 125 but with 10hp more. It kind of makes power in 125 fashion too. All on top.

7/21/2009 8:02 PM I seem to remember the MSO for my 83 RM250D claimed 43 HP.

7/21/2009 11:05 PM Most factory HP ratings are taken at the crank, not at the rear wheel. Figure in about a 15% loss in HP through the transmission to the rear wheel, in this case approxiamately 6.5 HP. This is roughly 36 BHP (rear wheel HP) from 42.5 gross HP at the crankshaft.
