Maybe contact the Dirt Diggers District 36 chapter since they ran and still do run all the amateur race days.

If you don't mind me asking, what class did ya ride and who are you?

I don't know how much help they will give you, but the Sac Bee used to print all the results from the Sportsman day races at Prairie City. I don't know if they did the same for Plymouth or not.

I worked there and remember they use to have the Amateur day results, but not in quite a number of years.
Back when it was at Plymouth, it use to be front page and front page sports articles since we had a lot of local expert racers and fans packing in the small town.

Awesome...you need to show up at the San Diego Museum on May 17th...

www.sdautomuseum.org

On Saturday, May 17, the “Motocross America” exhibit at the San Diego Auto Museum will hold at a special ceremony open to only 350 people. This is the one-and-only chance for motocross fans on the West Coast to see the Hall of Fame Museums “Motocross America” exhibit--which will be in the san diego Auto Museum through June. It will also be a chance for fans to meet-and-greet Roger DeCoster, Marty Tripes, Rex Staten, Broc Glover, David Bailey, Gary Jones, Steve Stackable, Lars Larsson and many others.

And I understand that, but the industry has a way of making good of the past, and how things were.

I know almost everybody involved with "Motocross America"...I really think things would be different.

However, I also can imagine how you feel, and I feel for what your mother may have went through. The world was cruel to men of color (as they put back then) I for one never understood the difference, of one to the next, not by race anyway.

Here's what I will do, but only if you wish. I will talk to Tom White, he owns "The early years of Motocross" museum. In a few months everything will be back at his house. Maybe we can get familiar with each other and can make a difference in the reality of the first Black Pro.

This is all up to you, I stand to gain nothing. But I would like to see some pictures if you have any. Message me, and I'll give you my email address.

I think it would be nice to set the record straight.

Click on your screen name and there should be a personal message there that I sent to you. Either that or it may have been sent to you in an e-mail. I think that's how it works.

Your name is on the upper left Leon.
Wasn't there another black rider named Mark Luster back in those days? I remember him, but I don't recall him making Expert ranks. Do you recall him?

Team Tenny, you raced in the same class I did...I highlighted myself although they spelled my last name wrong. You're #91 in Division 2...

I e-mailed the Dirt Diggers to no avail and since I worked at the Bee for almost 20 years, so next time I pay a visit there soon, I'll check to see what they have. Use to be always the first weekend of April Hangtown use to be..

Click on the link above, there's some larger pics of the item andy posted above. Shows the entire sportsman lineup from 1978 Hangtown. The thread has 3 pages and there's some pictures from Plymouth, so take a look at the other pages too.

I think the Early years of MX Museum thing that Slow Pro mentioned would be a great way for you to get some recognition that you certainly deserve. Fascinating subject matter in my opinion. I personally would love to see any pictures that you have, shown on this forum if possible.
