This is for sale locally. Did a little snooping on the net, not a ton of info. Ebay has 4900 hits though, so it seems parts are around. He says its complete although I see the bars are bent. Not looking to resto, maybe just a usable trail bike for cheap?

Cool old bike. That is the 10 speed model, I believe. High / low range feature in the transmission.

Lot of parts interchange between the 90 / 100 /120 Kaws of that era. Probably an easy make run bike.

My cousin had one at their farm when I was a kid. We rode the piss out of that thing! I was heavy as all get out, but actually seemed (to my 10 y.o. mind) to have somewhat decent power for what it was. Would be a great grocery getter, esp. with that bichin' expansion chamber (Bassini?).Get it!

I was thinking my 13 year old could ride it. He will be 5'8" by the end of the year probably. Think I might have a look at it.

I confess I've been jonesing for a plated 68-70 AT/CT/DT/RT Yamaha.

Not sure how often they turn over in your neck of, but the Kawis of that era turn up here pretty commonly, often cleaner and not a lot more expensive.

Yeah, I didn't catch that it's an aftermarket pipe. Sure is not factory according to what I can see. I don't necessarily have a bug for this particular bike, in fact, I had never even heard of it before this ad. I just happen to have a bug for anything with wheels and a motor. Woohoo

I would wait and get a reed valve motor instead of a rotary valve. I would bet the cork backing in the seat of the rotary valve is eaten up just from decay. And if it isn't available then your out money , time, and trouble. The rotary valve intakes were cool but reed valves are a lot easier to service. I say pass..

Good point. Quick search shows some NOS rotaries on ebay. I am quite concerned about the tank rust though; that it might be rusted through. Decent old tanks tend to be either few and far between or mucho pesos. Odds are I won't get it at this point.
