My daughter was doing an protect in her art class , making a poster. The teacher looks at it when my daughter turned it in and decides on her own to take it and enter it in some contest that that the Lions Club was holding. Today we get a call from school that my daughter won the contest and our family is invited to come to an awards dinner and that they want to use my daughters poster for for some of their patriotic political bulshit! My wife tells them to give back my daughters art work and to basically get fucked!Laughing Laughing Laughing

No , I don't have a pic of it. We didn't know anything about anything, till we got a call from the school . Had no clue what the teacher did and I never saw my daughters work. My wife saw the poster and said it was really good. If we get the poster back, I'll post it up.

Kid gets recognize for an accomplishment..wife blocks it.

Pretty cut and dry.

Why did you even post this thread anyway? You bragging about your kid, or you bagging on your wife?

How does blocking their use of her daughters artwork for self-serving purposes take away from the recognition? She won. Done.

Sounds like she gave her daughter a good lesson in self respect.

The daughter isn't going to the dinner is she?

Lesson is self respect...the artwork is the same whether it is being shown off or not, right? This is a no win argument...

How is inviting the kid to a dinner and recognizing her great art work self serving?

Did you miss the part where they wanted to use her artwork for their political agenda?

I posted it because I felt like it. The teacher had no right to take my daughters art work and do anything with it but grade it. , and give it back. I loved the way my wife handled it, had they asked to put the poster in a contest to support a patriotic/ political organization the answer would have been NO, in the first place. My wife and I do not want our daughter or our family associated with political BS in any way shape or form, period. I can tell that point went right over your head, it didn't go over Nerds , Noob's or JPT's! Like I said you have no clue.

Hell no it didn't go over my head!

People try to be so polite nowadays that they would allow something they don't even like, such as what was going to happen with your daughter's art, to happen just in order to not anger the teachers.

It's awesome that your wife told them to pound sand.

The only thing I may have done differently is perhaps ask for a bid for how much they wanted to pay my daughter to use her artwork.

Hey, if Glenn Beck, who I think is a lunatic, wanted to use a photo of mine on his show, the price would be steep, but if he was willing to pay it, I'd give it to him.

Not only that...but kinda makes you wonder what the artwork was if the "political" organization wanted to use it to show it off.

So what was the art work?

If a political organization wanted to use...it had to be something politically oriented? Hmmm...

Or...just maybe they wanted to show it off because it was good art work and had nothing to do with politics.

Doves , a mans face that was fractured kinda like a bazaro Superman thingy and some beautiful scenery in the back ground, from what my wife told me , but I never saw it myself. Who knows how they wanted to use it, fact is we were not asked about any of it. My wife shut it down and I loved they way she handled it, end of story.

Sounds like incredible art! Be very proud.

And yes, ultimately it is yours and your wife's decision what they did with that art work.

Have a good night.

this..sadly is about your daughter and her artistic abilities. yer wife jacked yer kid it appears. too bad many parents treat their kids as possessions instead of little people with their own feelings.

carry on...
