So I'm running a little late this morning and leaving my house around 6:45am. As I hit the back door, I see a coyote in the back, about 15 feet away. I yell for the kids to come see it and I run back to get a gun. The first gun I grabbed was my son's GSG5 (22 version of the MP5). I go outside and one of my dogs is barking at it, but it's just standing there...until it sees me. Then it starts to run off. I take about 15 shots at it, but with my dog right on it's heals, I'm careful with my shots. I'm not sure if I hit it or not....

If I didn't have any dogs or baby buffalo, I wouldn't care if I had 100 coyotes....but my wiener dog was attacked again the other night. Last time (a couple months ago) lead to the dog having to stay at the vet's for 10 days to get better. This time she just had 2 big bite marks on her back...but she's so scared to even come out of the house now....

Is it legal to shoot coyotes?

One shot, one kill, Barney...Wink

It's legal to shoot them here.. Last year their pelts were going for 17 bucks, now they're down to 7 dollars.. We need to thin the heard, but at seven bucks a pelt, it doesn't seem worth it..

Do you have any pics of your baby buffalo?

Why do you have baby buffalo?

You live in the country and dont have a 30-06 lever action by the back door?

nope just the 357 and a shotgun. Too many trees where I live for a rifle to be of much use.

Not so baby....

Do they call you Buffalo Huck in that part of the country?

I got home from work yesterday to see a Hawk in my front yard devouring what looked to be a Dove. I live in a residential neighborhood.

I was talking to huck. He needs to keep at least a scattergun by the back door.

I grabbed the 22 for a couple reasons...

1. It was already 15 feet from my back door and I figured when I came out, it would take off.
2. I didn't want to use a shoot gun with my other dogs around. Knowing my luck, I'd hit one of my dogs with the kids watching...lol

If the coyote comes around again, I'll post a picture of him....

In Colorado if the neighbor dogs are threatening your livestock you can kill them. Bring your guns for the MXDN trip Huck. I have tons of yotes around here.

I dont know what is on the books here but when I still raised Simmentals, if a neighbors dog messed with the cattle Id give the owner ONE courtesy call on the issue. If the dog showed up again he was cat-fish food in the pond.

Especially if you use 10 bucks worth of ammo trying to bring one down. Wink

The 22 was a good choice. Coyote's are easy to call in if he's still is a problem.

The coyote thought your dog was a Hot Dog(Weiner Dog).

What do you expect? 15 shots..............LMFAO

Why do people blame coyotes for their lost pets? Especially cats.
If there is a tree, no coyote is getting a cat.

15 shots - was probably a little more than I actually shot...maybe is was 10 or 12... W00t after the first couple, and my dog right behind, the rest were just for fun...

My dog can't climb trees, yet she brings squirrels to the house all the time. You could throw a rock almost anywhere on my land and hit a tree in any direction.

Well, if you ever go back into Wooley Swamp,
Well, you better not go at night.
There's things out there in the middle of them woods
That make a strong man die from fright.

Bring your guns? You think that's really a good idea?

A VitalMX meet up, with drunk, gun toting red-necks...

I'll be bringing a couple of guns, my bow, a couple of bikes and lots of beer.... What could go wrong?
