I go outside and one of my dogs is barking at it, but it's just standing there...until it sees me. Then it starts to run off. I take about 15 shots at it, but with my dog right on it's heals, I'm careful with my shots. I'm not sure if I hit it or not....
If I didn't have any dogs or baby buffalo, I wouldn't care if I had 100 coyotes....but my wiener dog was attacked again the other night. Last time (a couple months ago) lead to the dog having to stay at the vet's for 10 days to get better. This time she just had 2 big bite marks on her back...but she's so scared to even come out of the house now....
Is it legal to shoot coyotes?

It's legal to shoot them here.. Last year their pelts were going for 17 bucks, now they're down to 7 dollars.. We need to thin the heard, but at seven bucks a pelt, it doesn't seem worth it..

huck wrote:I grabbed the 22 for a couple reasons...
1. It was already 15 feet from my back door and I figured when I came out, it would take off.
2. I didn't want to use a shoot gun with my other dogs around. Knowing my luck, I'd hit one of my dogs with the kids watching...lol

Especially if you use 10 bucks worth of ammo trying to bring one down.

What do you expect? 15 shots..............LMFAO
Why do people blame coyotes for their lost pets? Especially cats.
If there is a tree, no coyote is getting a cat.

My dog can't climb trees, yet she brings squirrels to the house all the time. You could throw a rock almost anywhere on my land and hit a tree in any direction.

Well, if you ever go back into Wooley Swamp,
Well, you better not go at night.
There's things out there in the middle of them woods
That make a strong man die from fright.
