Took one hell of a vacation back in May, was gone for 2 weeks and put over 7000 miles on my girlfriend's moms new car. Me, my girlfriend, and her 16 yo brother left central Illinois, drove out to Seattle (made it in 2 days), drove up around the north coast of Washington on 101, down 101 through Oregon and Cali on the coast, hit up the Redwoods, stayed on the coast, hit highway 1 down to Pt. Reyes, CA, and stayed on 1 til we got past San Francisco, then cut back into 101 (1 was gorgeous, but was taking waaaaaay longer than we thought and we were on a deadline to get to San Diego), stayed on 101 til before LA, then we figured it'd be nice to hit 1 again and shouldn't be a bad route through LA. (WRONG IDEA) 3 hours later and not even halfway through LA, we cut back inland and made it to San Diego to my girlfriend's sister's house and visited for a few days with her and her new baby, left her brother there to stay for a few weeks while her husband was deployed, and my girlfriend and I headed back up to Yosemite (greatest place on Earth!), over to Lake Tahoe, through the middle of Nevada on the loneliest road highway 50, through Utah, stopped at Arches natl park for a little bit, then through Colorado (we were going to sightsee more in Colorado, but were running a little behind and were exhausted), then the horrible ride home through Kansas and Missouri. Would do it again in a heartbeat, if you've wanted to take a trip like this, DO IT! Greatest 2 weeks of my life, thought I'd share this story with all the other BS going on. I'll share SOME pics (took over 800)

I just had a few of the same views you posted this morning on my way over here to Seattle. I sometimes take it for granted some of the scenery we enjoy.
Great pics looks like a fun trip.
A few years ago the wife and I hiked around the camp grounds in the High Sierras. Which is up the valley from Yosemite.
YellowStone overall is my favorite place. Every little turn in YS is worth checking out.
Another amazing place is the road between Capital Reefe NP and Bryce Canyon.
