Dave is right, the crap they consider music now is total bull sh!t now. I was okay when I played in high school went to a state competition with a group of friends and received superior ratings. Now days kids and the media hype crap like Miley Cyrus and other BS acts and people think that's the best sounding stuff out.

However I did see the Foo Fighters at the Toyota Center in Houston a few years ago, great show they played for like 3 hours, it was impressive they went from full stage set up to all acoustical then back to the full stage set up.

How to use a high school orchestra properly:

I mean, if you're gonna force the kids to play in an orchestra, might as well turn it into something productive and fun.

If you can afford it get an electronic set. It's more money but it comes with a volume knob! It's a good investment though. I know my cover band kept me out of at least some trouble.

While those kids in both vids were VERY good, I was not surprised one bit. When I was their age, a few friend of mine would play music on a daily basis. We would burn some trees and jam till my fingers would hurt from the strings. Yeah, we were probably horrible, but on second thought, we probably weren't. (We did have a crowd of construction workers listening outside our practice space). But even if we did suck, we had a blast playing music. I still remember some of the riffs we came up with. I wish more kids today would actually take the time to learn an instrument instead of play Guitar-Queer-O on the nintendo. It seems as if kids nowadays want instant gratification. "This is hard, I'll just play it on the TV!"

I'm half decent on the guitar and I can't play guitar hero worth a shit. Smile I tried a couple of times and just got frustrated and went back to the real one. Much easier. Smile Last time I went home for Christmas I took the guitar and amp and they all played guitar hero and rock band on the playstation and I played along on my guitar. Smile

Yet the rise of E.D.M. also reflects the shifting ground of the music industry

in which big record labels are no longer the primary career makers, and a young, hyperdigital generation of acts has its eyes on more distant and prestigious prizes like film scoring. Their hoped-for career trajectory would be not unlike that of, say, Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails, but accomplished in a year or two instead of decades.

“It’s not the ’90s; we have the Internet,” said Mr. Robinson, 20, who lives with his parents in Chapel Hill, N.C. “Record labels are not as important or influential as they used to be. They’re less capable of puppet-mastering the whole scene.”

I don't know the guitar part but the base line is pretty fun to play. Tool has some crazy stuff they do in their songs though that make it very difficult to cover.

About 6 or 7 years ago I had a Gibson SG, a nice Ibanez bass and a Takamine acoutsic. . . Came home to the door being busted down and missing all three guitars and one of my amps. Pissed me right off but I never replaced them. My neighbor recently started getting into the guitar and it's making me want to go get one.

One of my fave bands, and these kids did a GREAT cover. More power to them.
