I'm thinking it's an airborne ISR/Control platform...? Is that a short 737 like the small biz-jet variant?

I did some searching, I can't find anything remotely close. Not sure.

Where did the picture come from? Assuming that's from the U.S.?

Is it the Poseiden sub-killer? That is based on a 737 platform.

That was my first thought, but nope. At least not in any form that I've seen before.

I build the fuselages for the 737. I have no idea what that is. Those sub hunters are badass.

So you're saying it's not a 737? I didn't think it looked like one.

It's not a P-8 variant. It looks like a 737 "short" w/ a Serious Radar/MAD/EC system...or other mystery equipment...airborne optics...laser...Flying Sharks with Fricken Lazer Beams!?

The Geniuses in that 5 sided building in Virginia let someone like me find it on Google Maps...it's the Tonopah Test Range Airport that's been around for a long, long time. It had its "2nd life" in the '80s as the home of the F-117. Currently they appear to be testing some funky stuff...again...or still...or however you want to look at it.

Note: this is where most of the JAT flights went during the 80's & early 90's...when everyone was talking Area 51 & Flying Saucers. There were flights to Groom; but, more was going on here. Ah, the good'ol days!

I'm calling it:

YAL-40...or something along those lines. There's an AC-130 visible at the other end of the base and I'm thinking it's the AC that is running AL tests from a belly mounted gimbal.

Her name is NT43A and she's been around for a while...

I think she may have some newer "Fans" hanging on her wings these days...

Would you believe I found it looking for trails I knew of from my days working/riding out near that airfield...?

You can ride to places where you can see TTRA (A-30) and Groom Lake (A-51).

Sweet find! I wonder what that thing does? The 747 laser has been tested for a while but that plane you found doesn't look like it has a laser. If it was a sub finder, whouldn't they be flying over the ocean and without a B-2 "escort"? And, why are they using a B-2 as an escort?? I'll bet they are testing something for the B-2.

Here is what Raytheon uses for its test mule. You can see the differend nose cone.

They're testing the B2s signature

Not sure if the above link worked but the Scorpion is what I've been working on for the last two years.

I see.

The B-2 is such a mystery to me. I know that plane has so much up its sleeve and is capable of way more than we can imagine. Raytheon is constantly working on upgrades and such for that plane. I have some really cool memorabillia from its first flight that my uncle gave to me.

I'm thinking it's got the latest JTD retro-fit with even bigger shrouds.

Near and "above"...where you can look down into the valley. They've tried to close off the open land; but, the trails are still there.

that's a 43a.

In that picture, it is flying near the b2 because it's a radar plane. They are trying to see the b2 on radar

It's black though, supposed to be flown at night. That's all the mean when they say "invisible".
