A friend of mine has a 6 month old Tourag. That is a sweet vehicle. I am in no position to rag on anyone for their choice of vehicles as I recently traded in our Exxon Valdez Limited Edition BMW X5 for a 2017 Audi Q7 for the wife unit. Another sweet vehicle that will be gone before warranty runs out.

Any get your buy back packages? We received ours yesterday. It looked appealing other than the fact there isn't another diesel car option for a reasonable cost. Here in Texas we don't have to register diesel vehicles for emissions so I'm probably gonna opt out of the entire program.

What are the terms of the buy back?

Basically they are going to pay me in my case 15k for the car and 6100 for restitution. Pretty much giving me back what I paid for the car. We only owe 10k on it. The problem with this is I can't find a comparable car for 22k which is what we paid for the car and this sticks me back in another note for a longer period. The other option is a 6800 dollar check and modify the car. Problem with this is they don't know how the modification will effect the car. Personally I think the should pay us what we paid for the car new plus restitution for the Inconveinece. Love the car but they knowingly pulled a scam. I'm hoping VW comes out with another TDI soon.

Which model do you own?

From what I have read it seems they are paying nada average retail for the vehicle pre-emission scandal plus 50% of value in restitution. Is that correct?

It looks like even if you sold the car, if you bought it new, you will still get a check. 4 packages came to the house recently.

TDI 1: 2009 that was bought new that was returned a week later. Every light in the car came on. Metal shavings in the fuel system. Suspected gasoline was put in at the dealer... That was a MESS.

TDI 2: 2010 That was received a month after returning the 2009. Ran for 150k until traded in 2012.

TDI 3: 2012 Currently owned. 140k.

TDI 4: 2014 Currently owned. 22k.

We're done with the 2012... so this is great. Wouldn't mind seeing some money from the 2010 being as it was driven on "false pretenses" for 150k. 2009 money will be pretty cool. 2014 is up in the air. Might not have a work truck soon to pile miles up on, so we'll cross that bridge when we get there.

Gonna be hood rich for a minute on some VW money soon! 2017 CRF450 looking better and better.

I think its a great deal. I will get back 80% of what i paid for my car. Basically I will have leased my car for 150 bucks a month and no penalty for going over on mileage, Like you would on a lease.

People that are asking for more money are unbelievable, and trying to get free handouts!!!!!
Your lucky to get this for a used car!!! Think of it that way!!!!

Yeah it's a great deal if you don't plan on buying another diesel car. The next option is BMW diesel at $43k. So for someone who only has 40k miles on their car and planned on keeping it for another 5 years not so much. So owing 10k in the car and having to go out that down on a 43k car not only do I have to buy something I never planned on but now I will go from a $265.00 a month note to about $520.00. Now if VW can come out with new diesel cars to sell in the next 6 months yes this will be the deal of a lifetime.

I have a 2012 Jetta TDI. 1 more payment till its paid off. Bought in March of 2012.
I assume because you have 10k left to pay, your on a 72 or 84 month loan.

If you expect a company to give you back a car that you used for the price you bought it for your insane.

I didn't assume a company would pull a scam like this as well. Really I didn't ask for your opinion on what I think any ways. They should be liable for what they did and not put a clue on a used car when someone purchased a new one to be totally legal. It really doesn't matter. I'm gonna opt out and keep driving it. No emissions registry in Texas. Your insane for thinking it's ok for VW to sell a car that was illegally programmed. But to each their own.

Sounds like the buy back is a good deal for the situation.

I'd still be pissed if I owned a VW. Then again, I bet stuff like this has been going on all over the industry and nobody will ever know.

Have to you filled out and subnmitted everythkng you need too on the vw court settlement page?

I have gotten an offer and had to get it nortorozed and resubmitted. No I am waiting to hear back. But I did that this week.
I am assuming 10 days from that I'll have a date to have the car bought back. I assume that won't be until January. But we will see

I finished the 15 step thing online last week. I still owe a tiny bit on the car. The estimate online said around 26g. My invoice for the car said 24g from july 2014.

My dad was a little disappointed in his estimate for his 2012. Having 150k miles really took the offer down.

Im almost afraid to drive it now. 24xxx. I dont want to go over 25000. Id prefer all this happen quick now that i have submitted everything.

Are you married to the idea of a diesel? You can find quite a few great daily commuters in that price range, but they're Gasoline engines. . .

As much as this makes my head spin, it seems like VW is taking the loss and making it " Fair. " if not right to their consumers.

You guys do realize Chevy makes a diesel Cruze right? Or you guys could always take your settlement money and buy a pre-emissions TDI, they get even better mileage than the new ones anyways.

Exactly, take the settlement money, buy a nice older tdi and pocket the rest of the money and you're however many thousands of dollars ahead.
