I just listened to russian radio and agenda there is crazy. They are saying that groups of extremists have stolen guns from police and killing innocent people. Not a word about a freedom fight or anything that happens in euromaidan.
This is exactly what happened in Baltic states back in 1991. Russian army spec-ops were killing innocent people, they were shooting at anything that moved. I was 14 at the time and lived alone at home for a week when my mom and brother was in Riga.
Do you think they'll reach a peaceful resolution soon?
I do know there was a brief truce and then fighting broke out again.
The US has made some statements,I don't think they'll get hands on involved though(just pretty much talk shit and give warnings).I'm wondering if Germany & Poland will get involved.
Poland has some excellent spec-ops.

I doubt it. I think president will step down. I hope he does. Ukraine is too big and too close to Europe to have a civil war. Shit`s gonna hit the fan in Europe if that happens.

I wonder what % of people who actually support either side is. If they can find a democratic peaceful solution then obviously that's best.

I guess Vitaliy Zakharchenko just said that Police were issued & armed with combat style weapons now and are authorized to use live ammo to resolve the situation.I guess many (not all) were using a lot of non-lethal stuff at first.
I guess that means they can start shooting the protestors now.
Crazy stuff.

It sounds like their using Police snipers also,by this tidbit I seen on Stratfor.

“Of course we will continue the cooperation with our Ukrainian partners on all previously agreed directions and we will try to do everything to keep our promises to them,” the RIA Novosti news agency quoted Dmitry Medvedev as saying during Thursday's government session.

“At the same time it is necessary for the partners themselves to maintain their tone and for the active authorities in Ukraine to be legitimate and effective, not a doormat for everyone to clean their feet,” Medvedev added.

“The authorities must concentrate on the objective of protecting the people, protecting the law enforcers who protect the state interests and the people themselves. Only in this case we could further develop the full-pledged economic cooperation,” the Prime Minister noted.

I see.

Interfax is now reporting... http://en.interfax.com.ua
At least 67 Ukrainian internal troops were captured during extremist attacks on law enforcement, the Ukrainian Interior Ministry said Feb. 20, Interfax reported.

There was a division of spec-ops Berkut who were sent to Kiev from another city. They were ordered to use live ammo- they refused and left Kiev for their base.

That's good they headed back.

I was just looking at the Berkut facebook page.
https://www.facebook.com/pages/BERKUT-Ukraine/574477605978934
It has stuff about neo-nazis attacking people & even a journalist killed.
I wonder if it's false propaganda just trying to label protestors Nazis?
Or if there is some sorta neo-nazi movement involved with the protests.

This is interesting.

That`s the same as here in Latvia. When Germans came a lot of latvians were forced to fight for Germany.

Oh and that`s total propaganda. Bandera is considered a hero in Ukraine. He was fighting against Russia for a free Ukraine. That`s total bullshit that`s on that Berkut site. That clear russian propaganda.

I see.

We have small neo-nazi/national socialist movements here...made up of like society outcast types of people.
Just pretty much idiots that Hitler probably would've had killed just for the way they look & act lol.
I wonder if it's sort of the same in Ukraine, just pretty much idiots looking for trouble and making the news.
Basically using the riots as an excuse to make trouble.
I dont think there's some huge new nazi organization trying to gain power there.
Just looks to me like anti-protestor propaganda that they are using on that facebook page.
Kinda going back to the old Nazism vs Communism...trying to use it against the protestors.

Russia is calling Latvia nazis because once a year we remember those thousands of latvians who died fighting in german military. While from the outside it looks bad a lot of people saw russia as bigger threat than germans. When russians came they raped, killed burned anything that moved. They simply went to a villages rounded all people up at the barn and set a fire to it.

President of Ukraine has disappeared. He jumped on his plain and left for Harkov but never landed there. I`m pretty sure he`s some place nice in Russia where he`ll spend the rest of his life swimming in his stolen millions or billions.

Eastern parts of Ukraine(population mostly russians) are asking for Russia to send their army in and occupy some parts of Ukraine. This could be absolute disaster.

Who's control is the Ukraine Military under now with the President gone, the protestors or are they just in limbo?
I'm surprised UN or NATO hasn't stepped in.
They might if Russia deploys military units.

They have a new ministers and a new president(someone who`ll be there till elections). New president elections are set on May 25th. They have everything under control. There is no hysteria or anything like that. Only thing that worries me is the eastern part who do not recognize new power of Kiev. President is believed to be there too.

Ahhh I see.

So it could turn into a civil war if Russia got involved and the old President wanted to take back power.

Civil war or Russia against Ukraine military. One good man said that Russia already did it once in Georgia six years ago during summer olimpic games. Now it`s turn for Ukraine and in 4 to 6 years it will be Baltic states.

If Russia does what they did in Georgia... NATO support might be iffy.
Their alignment with NATO seems a foggy.

I've been following this closely the past week. Thanks for the updates and the personal insights. It's crazy that Putin is trying to extend it's power throughout the former soviet states. It's gotta be like a bad dream for all those states after recently becoming independent from Moscow's control. I'm rooting for the protesters
