If you see black and blue it's one of the long term effects of orange sunshine. You should have stayed away from that shit.

I saw white and gold, but the dress is for a fact blue and black, it is weird, I am not color blind, I wonder why people perceive it differently?
What do you mean it is "for sure blue and black"? It is for sure not blue and black if you put the image in a photo program and pull the color values with an eye dropper. Of course it's for sure not gold and white either. But, white will not show up as white unless it is being lit by a perfectly white light, which doesn't really exist.

I see white and gold.

This is the real dress colour although I'm certain that the people saying blue and black aren't seeing the same vibrance and colour as the real thing either.

I think it looks white because people assume it's poor lighting... well it is weird lighting but it looks blue and gold to me. Turns out it's blue and black

Well if you flood it with light the camera will pick up different colors, if that's the same colors as the dress in the first post. Light determins color.

I can sort of understand how you could possibly see gold at the top, because it's kinda yellowish. But the blue being white? That just baffles me!

It's definitely closer to white than blue. The first picture is not blue when you analyze the color in a photo app as I said. If you turn all the lights off in the room the dress becomes completely black.

I think it's a combination between a shitty phone camera and poor lighting. An overexposed photo of a blue and black dress will look white and gold; anyone that's ever tried to take a photo with an SLR/DSLR camera knows what I'm talking about.

Like I said, Kenny Wayne Shepard had this thing figured out a looooong time ago

I see what you are saying but I think our brains have abilities to take into account the effects of lighting and cameras to determine what the actual color is regardless. Looks blue and black to me with crappy lighting but I can see how people would think it's white. In fact a white dress could easily look exactly like that in a photo too.

if you saw it white and gold, and then black and blue afterwards.. can you go back to seeing it gold and white again or is it a one time deal? Blink

My daughter texted me this last night, I said white and gold, she said blue and black. Nothing blue or black in the first picture for me. I just had my eyes checked for my captains license renewal and they said I had perfect vision but colors may very for people I take it.

I just can't believe this is such a huge debate. The dress is blue and black, here, let me post the actual dress from the site.

It's an optical illusion. Seriously. This is so blown up for such a simple issue to settle.

It's not an optical illusion. An optical illusion would be if you took something that really was blue and lined it up with the picture and it would become obvious that the color is blue. Yes, the dress may actually be blue but the first photo in this thread does not show its actual color. There is no solid blue or solid black in the first photo. Use the color picker in any paint/photo program for proof. I hope you don't think the colors in the photo in your link and the colors in the first post in this thread match, because they aren't even close. Smile

P.S. The comments in that Amazon link are hilarious! Smile

With RGB on a scale of 0 to 255 true blue is 0 red, 0 green and 255 blue. True black is 0 red, 0 green, and 0 blue. True white is 255 red, 255 green, and 255 blue. The truth of the matter is, that neither picture shows true black, true blue, or true white. If I use the color picker in my image viewer this is what I get:

For the first picture in this thread the parts of the dress that look gold to some people:
RGB=124,106,66

For the first picture in this thread the parts of the dress that look white to some people:
RGB=132,134,180

For the Amazon picture the parts of the dress that look black to probably most everyone:
RGB=44,37,50

For the Amazon picture the parts of the dress that look blue to probably most everyone:
RGB=55,29,125

You can plug those numbers into this page to see where they fall (take note of where the dot is placed on the square on the left when you type them in:

http://www.colorspire.com/rgb-color-wheel/

Now you'll probably notice that yes, the part that looks white to many people in the first picture does have more blue in it than red and green and appears to be a "shade of blue" but the values are almost even making it almost a gray. And if you accept that then you also have to accept when you plug in the values of the first picture that look gold to some people, really is in fact a shade of gold (or brown looking to me), more than it is black. Plug in 0,0,0 and 0,0,255 to see what true black and blue look like.

I think it is very interesting. People can point out all types of things with monitors, RGB colors, etc. but bottom line people see different colors on the whatever device. It's actually pretty amazing.

I see blue and gold. My ex sees white and gold. My daughter sees blue and black. It is very strange and I haven't found a good explanation yet for it.
