Every time I drive by the building that he basically committed suicide in at the U District, I think about how much more great music could have been made. Drug addiction definitely sucks.

Gives me chills everytime. Certainly one of the best songs ever, to me. So, haunting and profound at the same time.

It seems like we just had an anniversary remembrance thread for him. That was a fast year!

He and Cobain are both listed as dying on this day, but neither were found for a bit so they are best guesses......

Watched Singles again a few weeks back just to see how young some of the best of that era was back then.....

Staley was good, but by no means the GOAT of rock.

There's plenty of great voices that emerged from the more "mainstream" grunge era and they can all be appreciated. Staley, Cornell, Vedder, even Weiland and Cobain. All were pretty great if you were growing up listening to them. I could listen to any and all of them and be happy.

I listed to AIC so much in high school it was ridiculous. I could never comprehend how some of my buddies liked Pearl Jam or Nirvana more. haha

Soundtrack to 8th through 11th grade. Seemed like the hottest chicks in high school dug Alice in Chains.

Layne had such a distinct voice.. so cool.

Man, looking through that list of grunge guys makes me sad... Staley, Cobain, Weiland, Andrew Wood... all gone now.

I am personally but that's not the intent of the thread. It's meant as a remembrance of a great artist that was lost.

The way Layne and Jerry's vocals complemented each other was a beautiful thing.
Not many rock bands with dual lead singers, AIC pulled it off magically..
RIP Layne certainly one of the great voices of rock lost too soon.

Sorry about the quality, but had to share this rare gem. My favourite AIC song and Layne was the man in this version also.
