Jimmy Page was ALWAYS stealing people's music in the 60's.

Yeah, don't see why this is new news. Zeppelin was sued by Willie Dixon I believe for copying "Whole Lotta Love" in the 60's. One time I believe I counted over 25 of their songs that borrowed or copied old delta blues songs. Either lyrics, riffs or entire songs.

That being said, they are still one of my favorite bands.. Let's see anyone else take another persons songs and make a Zeppelin quality tune out of it.. Good Luck.

There was something in a Supreme Court Ruling that was favorable to doing it past the Statute of Limitations...

I've heard a quote from Kieth Richards to the effect of, "It's not just a matter of stealing; It's a matter of knowing what to steal."

Page remastered the song not long ago, and rereleased it.

Lawman agreed with Randy California's estate, this made it fair game. Limitations are 3 years.

I hope Zep gets a pass, not that they need the money.
But get real, Jimmy was maybe one of 2 studio musicians way back, in the beginning.
His licks are on more really big, really influential pieces with no credit at all.

That Spirt didn't make it a monster, o wella IMO.

From the article: "In response, Malofiy writes that Page and Plant admitted in depositions to routinely taking other people's songs. Among the works that have come up include "Dazed and Confused" (allegedly derived from Jake Holmes), "Whole Lotta Love" (allegedly Willie Dixon by way of The Small Faces) and "Babe I'm Gonna Leave You" (allegedly Anne Bredon from a song sang by Joan Baez)."

Been telling you guys for years that a lot of music (mostly R&R) is derived from the Blues.

The name "Rolling Stones " came from a Muddy Waters song which I'm sure most of you knew. Cool

The human brain, especially as it pertains to music, is trained to find and use patterns. It also happens to be that there are a finite number of usable notes/chords in music, so don't you think that eventually we'll find a few songs that our brains think sound alike?
