This is NOT one of those!
I don't know how many of you drive in areas where it constantly rains for several months at a time, but the mountain passes here between Eastern and Western Washington certainly qualifies for a good portion of the year. I've been driving over Snoqualmie Pass when it's raining so hard that it seems like you are using Braille to stay in your lane.
During the reconstruction of the snow slide areas on the east side of the pass they have installed about 15 miles of the flush mounted, solar powered LED lane markers. After 2 trips over with heavy rain all I can say is that if they survive the snow plows this year then we need those things on all of our passes pronto! It may seem silly for those who never drive in this crap, but it is amazing how much safer traveling with these things is.
Similar to these I think and this test cost just over $10K per mile.

Most of the winter they are able to get the road scraped down to pavement pretty quickly (day or two) unless it's a huge storm and then you are usually going really slow and following tracks anyway.
