We had snow last Sunday so...

But it did melt off by Tuesday. Today we planted peas, lettuce, spinach, broccolli and got some brussell sprout starts going in some cups inside. Cant seem to get the brussel sprouts to "finish". When late fall hits they just look like little leaf blobs in the arm pits of the stalk.

Itll be early May before we can plant maters, green beans, etc..

Bobby, I mess with my PH once in awhile, but my well runs between 6.5 and 7 with 200 PMM of what ever. Sometimes after heavy rains and during snow melt my PH will fluctuate and need to be adjusted. I use lemon juice or baking soda. I only do this on the indoor plants, once outside, they're on their own. I put the ashes from the wood stove and my chicken shit into the garden with a little lime and rototill it in. I've tried composting but the wildlife or the farm animals eat it because I'm not far enough along in securing my place. I use my PPM meter more often so I can get my fert's just right, again, this is just for indoors

Gotcha. My dirt is very base, so I hafta add sulphur or peat moss to get the pH down to something most garden plants prefer. They will make it okay around 7, (my stuff is around 7 to 7.2) but much happier with a lil more acid. My friend across the river has sandy dirt and he has to put down bunches of pelletized lime to bring it up to spec.

Hope your stuff does great this year.

I use the lime to stabilize the PH I already have.

I have three planters about 6 x 30 since our good dirt is about an inch deep. I started way too many tomato seedlings and too early last year. This year I'm a little late. I have given up on try to grow a few things, due to it getting too hot to soon. Yes, my garden need weed eating.

I won't be influenced by you Texans again this year. Last year Bobby's photo's got me so wound up, I planted early and had to start over after everything froze.

I thought it was Spring three weeks ago. Still decided to wait on setting out Summer plants. Since then we have had close to some of out coldest temps all Winter.

Looks like you plan to flood. Cant get away with that here. It's drip or risk getting a ticket.
I miss this place. I had room.

That's awesome Borg. I have my own well, so I get to water all I want. I just hope this drought we're in don't effect my well this summer.

The tomatoes are kicking ass and are begging to go outside but I'm not giving in.

I'll be damned! This is as early as I have ever had one. I just walked out there and there it was. We did have a warm spring but this is weird. Shit, I may be having fried green maters on Memorial day this year. Usually it's the 4th of July
