It sounds like the cancer took him quickly. From what I understand, he found out about it on December 26th.

I guess if you have to go from cancer, that is the way to do it. Sucks either way, we lost a legend.

Wasn't much of a Motörhead fan but I appreciate how iconic and inspirational the guy was. Saw them play in Hyde Park one summer, on the same bill as QOTSA & the Foos and I think I recall the Foos playing Ace of Spades with Lemmy on base.

RIP Lemmy

Always loved the fact he was a huge Ramones fan and I always enjoyed his cover of this Ramones tune.

Here he is performing it with the Ramones at the very last Ramones show.

This was a really neat song/duet he did originally with Ozzy ..."I Ain't No Nice Guy " acoustic version of him doing the vocals by himself.
Worth a listen if even you aren't into hard music.

Lemmy was as bad ass as one could possibly be, RIP Lemmy, a true rock n roll legend that never strayed from rock n roll.

16 years old when I went to the war,
To fight for a land fit for heroes,
God on my side, and a gun in my hand,
Chasing my days down to zero,
And I marched and I fought and I bled
And I died & I never did get any older,
But I knew at the time, That a year in the line,
Was a long enough life for a soldier,
We all volunteered,
And we wrote down our names,
And we added two years to our ages,
Eager for life and ahead of the game,
Ready for history's pages,
And we brawled and we fought
And we whored 'til we stood,
Ten thousand shoulder to shoulder,
A thirst for the Hun,
We were food for the gun, and that's
What you are when you're soldiers,
I heard my friend cry,
And he sank to his knees, coughing blood
As he screamed for his mother
And I fell by his side,
And that's how we died,
Clinging like kids to each other,
And I lay in the mud
And the guts and the blood,
And I wept as his body grew colder,
And I called for my mother
And she never came,
Though it wasn't my fault
And I wasn't to blame,
The day not half over
And ten thousand slain, and now
There's nobody remembers our names
And that's how it is for a soldier.

Haven't heard what type of cancer he was diagnosed with, but it came on quick. This may explain why he canceled and shortened some shows in the US. RIP.

Lemmy seemed to be about as genuine as it gets. I'm pretty bummed I never got to see Motorhead live.

RIP Lemmy...

No matter how metal you are, it's ok to cry today... This is far more tragic than some junkie "rockstar" dying of an overdose after a long slide into addiction, like so many seem to do these days. Lemmy was a genuinely great dude, and luckily his music gets to stay here with us.

Fuck cancer.

He liked speed and did it daily from what i get from the documentary on vh1. Not the meth amphetamine like made from Sudafed but crystal meth.

If you are sitting there and do some with some JD and start thinking about cancer and death and your son a heart attack would be easy to get whipped up.

Maybe he stopped after the diabetic scare he had and then rebooted. I give him major props for being able to handle it for years and not spiral into a addiction but just maintain and party, takes a special willpower for that.
