So I sat in an interview this past week.
A question I got was: "explain to me your alcohol use"
I said, maybe 3-5 a week with dinner if my fiancé and I go out.
Then they ask: how about illegal drugs, when was the last time you've used illicit drugs including marijuana?
I said: never. But I feel like this question was just looking to see if you're an honest person. So I'd imagine they expect people to say oh I smoked weed when I was younger. But the problem is, I've never touched the stuff. I told her well in college I was around it but it got passed right by me. I never smoked. Never was interested, never even wanted to try it. Beer was good enough for me.
I feel like I should of lied and said I smoked it one time as a stupid kid. That way it looks like I'm honest. I just bet the interviewers can't believe someone has never tried it.... What do you guys think?
At my current job they asked me if I found a hundred dollar bill in the parking lot would I turn it in, or put it in my pocket. With that question I answered I would put it in my pocket if it was cash. If it was a check I would turn it in. THey hired me. Wierd questions.
What are the weirdest interview questions you've got ?

Beer on the other hand....well, I am Irish. so let's just leave it at that!
I have never had to interview for a job but have been through a few corporate shrinks through the course of employment that come up with some odd questions.
As for me, it's always been easy to tell the truth: I tried it once when I was 17, didn't really like it, and never smoked it again.
since there is no definition for experimented they have no idea if it's a little or a lot.
IF they probe further, it was so long ago, it could not have been more than a few times as I really
didn't like it.
The Shop
I told them it would be easier to answer if they asked what drugs I didn't try.
So they asked what drugs I didn't try.
Heroin.
One question I got was.... "On a scale of 0-100%, how black and white are you?"
Being that it was an analytical positon they were looking for me to say 20%, but being that I held mostly finance/accounting type roles I answered 80%.... so my answer was 100% wrong.
If you're at a bar after working hours having drinks, would you sleep with a coworker if you knew no one would find out?
This was funny. I told them I would, but only if my wife could join in because we are swingers. We aren't, but it was funny watching them try to figure out how to respond to it.
I didn't take the job when they called with the offer 5 days later.
I interviewed with a company about a year or two ago. I mainly wanted to see what the company was about and interact with them. Anyways, the recruiter kept asking me the same question about 4 or 5 times "Do you know what we do here?".
I found it really odd she kept asking me that over and over and over. Of course I did! WTF would I be here for if I didn't know what the company did!? After about the 3rd or 4th time I almost said 'ya know, I don't think this is the right position for me'. I kind of wish I would have just to see the expression on their face. I never did follow up with them or return the call to go to the 3rd interview.
After I did that 2nd interview I did a little research on the gal that interviewed me and she had only been with the company for less than a year, so I really don't think she knew too much about the job or company. Needless to say the person they did hire for that position has already quite because it is such a shitty place to work.
Pit Row
I've seen some odd questions, like are you afraid of sharks. Um yeah, fuck sharks. I was asked sexual related questions such as how many partners I've had, if I've ever had group sex, etc.
I've been asked how often I drink, would I cite my mom if I stopped her for speeding, if I watch porn, every crime I've ever committed since being 18, if I've ever committed a felony in my life, if I've ever sent naked pictures of myself or received naked pictures from a significant other, and the list goes on.
After walking out of the interview I felt like a hardcore criminal even though every crime I've ever committed was stupid minor things as a kid like egging houses and stuff. I always feel a little bad when I see new applicants walking in for their interviews. They probably have no idea what they're about to experience over the next couple hours.
Didn't get the job.
There were a bunch of weird questions on that test, but I can't remember most of them. Stuff like, "Do you like your mother's bra?"
Just strange.
I believe there were three written "tests" I had to take that day, and they were all tedious. The whole ordeal took all day. In the end, I was glad I wasn't offered a position. The whole thing just struck me as overly intrusive and I was not expecting the written stuff. I was expecting a face-to-face interview (which I did get after the three tests) where I could just be the hotshot A&P mechanic I thought I was. "Hire me. I'll fix it fast. I'll fix it right. I'll fix it safely. What else do you need to know?" Instead, in the face-to-face I got more psych type questions. "Mechanics tend to curse a lot. Are you okay with being around that?" "Really? I was active duty Navy for seven years. There is not an English curse word on the planet I've not heard or used myself."
Like I said, strange. However, it is their company and they know more about running an airline than I do.
