Going to start looking at some nicely optioned(not overly optioned) full size trucks. Anyone have any good info to share? Considering looking at the following

Toyota Tundra Crew Max 4WD. I could actually see this getting stretched in the future and a full size short bed added in place of the micro bed. Anyone here got a current body one they care to discuss?

2016 F250 Crew Cab 4x4, 6 3/4 ft bed, diesel. Had one XLT through the shop recently that impressed me with it's lack of bells and whistles options.

2017 F250 Crew Cab 4x4, 6 3/4 ft bed diesel. Yes they are aluminum.Unsure

2017 Ford Raptor crew cab. Any reviews out on them yet? Turbo 6 with 10 speed tranny. Looks like it is just over 500 ft lbs of torque so that should make for some fun.

Anyone familiar with what is required to tow any of these behind a motorhome? My manual transfer case 01 model is just too damn easy to tow. Required running some lights to the rear.

What do you plan on using the truck for? The raptor has a lower payload than the F150, so kinda weird to see ya considering it with the F250.
IMO get the raptor and have a blast owning the most badass truck you can buy from a dealership. Just as long as it'll handle your towing/hauling needs.
I'd avoid the Toyota, personally I don't like them. And it's not as fun as the raptor, nor is it as useful as the F250.

As far as flat towing, you'll probably need some kind of programmer that'll allow you to put the transfer case in N. Any dealership worth a damn should be able to help you out there, or a truck forum.

If it were me I would get the 16 stroker with the XLT. It's amazing the options these trucks have without the "premium" packaging anymore. I'm not totally sold on the 17's yet either

I test drove the new raptor. Wasn't that impressed for the price and specs.
My nod goes to the tundra. There's a guy here in town with a supercharged tundra, and that thing flat gets down, and it's on 37s!

Just saw on YouTube that an 07 tundra with the 5.7L had just hit 1million miles. Original engine, never rebuild. They did replace reverse in the transmission. Nevertheless still impressive.

I can't afford a new truck so looking at used ones. I won't hesitate to buy a Tundra with 100,000 on the odometer.

The new trucks are nice.......but if your like me you'll regret getting rid of that 7.3..........hopefully your keeping it......I wished I'd kept mine around for a spare truck......other than being noisy, I think that may be one of the best diesel motors put into a pickup,....clean 7.3 's are valuable, ( I'm guessing I'm not telling you anything that you don't already know.)

Ford but no diesel. My good friend is a 30 yr tech at the same dealership. The line of diesels waiting to be torn down is long.

Granted, most are chipped out with the egr bypassed or whatever which is what kills them probably.

The raptor has a engine that is different from the ford modular 4.6,5.4. , I thought the one I glanced at was a v8, But I was staring at the dual plug setup firing from one coil.

I will have to look again today.

I have a 2014 Toyota Tundra CrewMax and absolutely love it. The interior quality of materials and overall reliability of Toyota is hard to match.

That's my opinion as well. Looks like they mated a potentially good looking truck with a Juke.

I know Im bias'd, when my 6.7 CDT left me stranded I vowed never again. I just hate they charge such a big price for a design that is flawed right out the chute. There simply has to be a better way to get it done.

But yeah, youre right, its on everything now and if you want that monster torque and easy of towing, you hafta get in bed with the soot-devil.

You should be able to get what ever truck you want and have a Cummins in it . I absolutely hate dodge trucks but that Cummins is a bad mo fo .

Edit : I don't know anyone that has a Cummins later then 05 ,can't speak for anything newer.

If you are thinking of an F250, might as well jump to the 350 for a few pennies more.

I was looking at F150's this weekend. Nothing fancy, the entry level starts at 40k. I guess it's been that way for a few years not, but I just can't get over that. A 2014 with 25,000 miles is 30k.

I dunno - by that pic I'd say yes, but I know someone here who got one this summer (he came from having a Ford) and I thought he got a new Ford the first time I saw him in it. I didn't stand way off to the side & give it a long discriminating look over, but from the front, that's what I thought I was looking at. At first anyway. I thought it looked good. He says it's head & shoulders over his Ford (which was 3-4 years old now, but was a nice one).

Another buddy just traded in his Dodge for one, I haven't seen it yet.

I have a 2010 F-150 FXR with a towing package. Never towed a damn thing with it. I wanna get a 1990 ford ranger instead, so if you are interested, 16 grand Canadian takes it. That's 12 grand American.

You can get them for way cheaper than that though. I paid $36K for a brand new '15 F-150 XLT Supercrew 4x4. It doesn't have the massive screen in the dash, just the regular one (sorry, I don't remember the different names of the technology packages)

Even though the aluminum scares me, I would still go with the F250 out of that selection. My father enjoys his tundra especially since gas prices have gone down. Toyotas appear to hold their value, which was one factor we took into consideration when we purchased my wife's 4Runner. I have to say my current Silverado has (knock on wood) given me zero issues to date. Before 2012 it was nothing but Fords but at the time Chevy gave me the best deal.

I went and looked at them a couple weeks ago. Damn nice trucks and look quality inside and out. IMO it was a set of rims and tires away from being a really good looking pickup.

The fender and door bodylines from this view takes a huge dump and throws the whole look of the truck off. Weird.

Weird or just fugging ugly?
