Are they putting a turbo'd R1 motor in it? 24 inches of travel on all four corners?

Saw this on the interwebs earlier, apparently leaked from their Newnan, GA facility. Isn't it supposed to be a manual 5 spd? Awesome for performance I'm sure, but kinda kills it for just cruising around.

Close! Naturally aspirated triple cylinder 1000cc with a 5-speed tranny. Looks to me like trailing arms and roughly 16" of travel. The angle of those rear shocks are pretty interesting too. I've heard 112hp but I've also heard 130hp. Should see a 4-seater within about three months, and a supercharged motor in the next year or so (close to 190 hp!!!)

I would LOVE to have one, but I'm such a tightwad. My thought process is $15-$20k for the Yamaha or a RZR, or $3k for an '89 Toyota 4x4. Like the Yamaha, the Toyota also has over 100hp, power steering, and a 5 speed manual transmission, but ALSO has heat and a/c. lol

I hate those golf carts, all of em. Ocotillo Wells is ruined because of those gay ass zero talent needed to drive hunks of fuck. Everybody and their fuckin brother has one of those piles and is now instant johnny off road guy, fuckin pieces of shit I hate em. Oh and you want to talk about dust ? You want to talk about beat to death trails ? How about more rangers handing out tickets than ever before because it's a gazillion times more crowded because of those things. They're the boogie boards of off road, every kook has one and 95% of them has no idea wtf their doing. Last time we were out there they outnumbered motorcycles 30 to 1. That's all carry on

And for the record, I'm with sumdood...I hate those things. I have no idea how so many white trash, rednecks around here can afford them...can't afford braces for their kids, or new stretch pants for their wife...but they can afford a $15K SxS??? I can't even begin to understand the depths of stupidity they have to wallow in that would make buying one look like a wise thing to do.

Then you take those same people, who have no respect for anything, and put them out in the desert...and they assume that if someone else went down a trail-never mind if its single track-then they can take their rig down it...they trash all the trails, have no respect for anything, litter all over the place, and ultimately provide a whole bunch of Ammo for all the folks that want to close public land to ALL OHV's.

I bought a ford escort years ago for $200 and it did the same job. It was a bad ass full size stick shift go kart.

The little towns surrounding the deserts noticed the extra dust those four wheeled locusts create, they're going to fuck it up for us all. They're not doing a "Dust Study" just for fun, someone's bitching about the dust, and god knows when someone complains in this country the powers that be want to shut that shit down, can't have anyone unhappy no no no. Before those things took over nobody even noticed, or cared what went on out there.

I gotta say, I feel the same way about them. They are doing damage around here to our trail systems too. The most scary part of riding for me now is not casing a jump or going over the bars in a whoop section, it's the threat of getting flattened by one of these assholes going sideways around the blind corners we have out in the woods here. They're extremely dangerous and it won't be long until someone gets sued over misuse and gets our trails shut down.

The only good thing about them is that they are bringing more business than ever into the small towns that the trails run through, many of which (bars, gas stations, restaurants) wouldn't be around if it weren't for the trails we have in northern Michigan. Also, a lot of dealerships were saved by the influx of SxS customers in the past 10 years. During the recession a ton of dealerships took pretty big hits on their pocketbooks and it's just now starting to turn around for the better. In fact, most of our business these days comes from SxS customers. We make a shit ton of money off of them. We make absolutely zero dollars off selling motocross bikes and gear, thanks to the internet... So, if you want your motorcycle dealerships to stay alive and thrive, we may have to suck it up and deal with these things for a couple years until the fad dies down...

Can't stand these things. They are invading the trails in Michigan like a plague. Idiots with coolers full of beer on the trails is not what we need.

Us idiots are good for the economy. Just think, every time one of these Yamahas are sold, and they make a profit, they are able to continue to support MX.

We just got the notice the other day that the are not going to allow them to be made street-legal anymore in Michigan, so hopefully that'll help clear out some of the trails. Luckily they're making these things so big and so fast these days that most people are finding that it's only really worth it to go ride at an open area like Silver Lake, which is a place I avoid like the plague...

the SXS thing has just gotten out of control around here, it's fucking crazy... they are EVERYWHERE

this weekend i did an adventure ride camping trip up to Manuta, UT. the dirt-road down from the top of Inspiration Point to Manuta is about 11 miles long and i lost count of how many of them were coming down or going up. it was insane. Saturday the DNR had a field day giving tickets and DUI's, our campground was a half mile away and the tow-truck couldn't keep up.

anyway... Yamaha is just cashing in on the cow that has become SXS ownership, good for them. my favorite is that Joey Stayathomedad is now able to have a high-performance machine with long travel and a turbo to take his fatass wife and two kids hauling ass on dangerous terrain... fucking up the trails, roads, and coming around blind corners like a madman because his machine is capable... Cherry Creek and the entire Jericho area is a frenzy of idiots hauling ass in these things. i'm nervous to ride down there because last time i was there i almost ran into a few hauling ass down whooped out trails. just spooky

Cherry Creek is scary down in the flats...If I'm not up in the mountains in the single track...I'm down riding on a little turn track I put together in the sand or something...its just too dangerous to ride down in the flats (double track) any more.

I watched TJ Hannifen's helmet cam from the Firebirds Hare and Hound out there last year, and he is leading the race and comes over a hill and a dude is coming the down the race course (the wrong direction). Scary stuff.

i hear ya, down low is dangerous. problem is i go with a group of all skills, so the mountain stuff is limited so we have to stay lower... either way i just can't believe how many are down there these days. campground after campground of SXS machines

Heard a rumor that any Yamaha employee that leaks a picture of that thing before the dealer trade show / official intro is going to get their walking papers.

I think it will be like the jet ski boom market, lots of people will buy them at first and then with the expense and cost to just go drive them it will die off in a few years and then something new will replace them.

unfortunately you're probably right.

luckily, there are still some major ATV/dirtbike trail areas that have the posts at the trail-head that limit the width of the vehicle that can be on the trails.

i wouldn't mind seeing them go away, but at the same time i know some of our local shops run strictly off the Joey SXS group that dump their second mortgages on these over-priced and over-powerful machines.

Or those people would just buy good old fashioned quads, like they used to. I imagine there are some people who wouldn't own anything if SXS's didn't exist, but I think most of the people that own them, would own a quad if these didn't exist, and just buy these because they can fit the wife and kids in one machine (and justify the price because they feel one off these can do the job of four quads) and they have a roll cage, so they feel safer in them.

So I'm not sure how bad off the shops would be if SXS's didn't exist.
