Well, sorta...he will run two stages (not during the actual race) for charity. I was pretty shocked to read this:

Shamed Cyclist Lance Armstrong Set For Shock Return To Tour de France This Year‏

"He's done enough damage" - critics hit out as Armstrong set to return for two stages.

Lance Armstrong may be banned from pretty much everything on earth at this point, but believe it or not, the shamed former champion is going to be riding stages 13 and 14 of the Tour de France this year.

He won’t be part of the actual event of course – the world would probably have exploded by now if that was about to happen – but he will be joining a charity ride set to take on each stage of the TdF course just one day before the professional peloton.

That picture, cameraman should back up so we can see the rest of the IV bags in the peloton...LOL.

Still a Lance fan. Being an arrogant prick was his downfall. If he was more likeable, his wins wouldn't have been stripped and his name would have "shamed' in front of it.

I had this up in my room when I was 11 years old. My friends would come into my room and ask who that guy was. I would say, "That's Jan Ullrich, duh." And they would shrug it off like he was nobody and we would play Playstation

Lance took the fall for about 10,000 other riders that either never got tested , or were just to chickenshit to admit it. I still say it was even playing ground. They were ALL doing it , and Lance still beat the shit out of them.

He won every title straight up, because every rider below him was taking the same shit he was. He was just better than them all, on a level playing field. The ones who didn't juice, didn't want to win badly enough, and that's just the way it is. Sucks to be them.

You guys must be kidding, still having respect for this dude. He tried to destroy the lives of people that were outing him- he's a complete farce. Now people are saying he's still "a winner." Our standards for winners these days are incredibly low. The guy is scum.

I agree the guy is scum, doping is one thing the whole peloton is doping but trying to destroy people's lives proves to me that he's the coward

To a point you are correct. Since everyone (in cycling) is cheating, he was cheating and still won. The standard in cycling is set fairly low. He is still a badass on a bike.

I have no respect for him as a person, at all. But what he was able to do on a bicycle was incredible! They were all cheating...so nobody was...and he still dominated them. I can respect his athletic ability without respecting him.

In fact, I'm almost positive that virtually all elite athletes (the best of the best in their respective sports) were all A-holes. The more I learn about Michael Jordan, the less I like him (as an example) and I idolized him as a kid/teenager in the 90's. But I only knew him as the athlete I saw on the court, and in commercials, and movies and interviews...his public persona...but assuming the stories I've come across about him as a person are true, not much to respect there.

Alexander Vinokourov is the team manager now. He retired from racing a few years ago after coming back from a drug suspension. He was on Astana then. When Lance came back it was an new "American" team Astana before Radio Shack.

You're right, last years TdF winner, Vincenzo Nibali hasn't looked too good this year. Hopefully all the top guys stay healthy and use proper masking agents so they pee clean and the race is competitive.

Cycling is tainted brah,

I agree with the two posts above.

"I have never tested positive".

How many times did he say that?

As far as the racing was concerned, I was guessing that they were all doing it, so I took it as a grey area that was a necessary evil of racing.

When I learned of the money that took from others (kicking riders off the team who would not participate, and suing for libel when journalists accused him of it) was what made me dislike the man. He hid behind our court system, and took money from other people's family.

If I had the chance, I would have no problem kicking him in the one ball he still has.

While the top contenders surely doped not all the cyclists in the pro peloton were glowing and few were able to pull it off at the level of Armstrong. He meticulously planned and executed the process and had the funds to support it. Take all doping away he would have been a Claissics and short stage race specialist with a great resume' of results. That was his genetic type without doping.

He had 3 downfalls: He was an arrogant bully American in a Eurocentric sport, too many people knew about his doping, and he ended up in Travis Tygart's crosshairs. Had he never made that comeback he may have stayed off the radar. The UCI knew all along but reaped the benefits of millions dollars of American investments caused by Armstrong's popularity. All that said, his punishment exceeds his offense.

And I contest cycling is no dirtier than any other big money sport. Compare pro cycling's testing protocols to American football, European football (soccer), basketball, boxing, or all others except Nordic skiing. MMA stepped theirs up and are popping top names constantly.

Did I read correctly that there are only 3 Americans in the Tour this year? I know our hometown boy got a slot but assumed that Garmin still had a bunch of US riders to enter.

Yea, just 3. Talansky (Garmin), van Garderen (BMC), and Farrar (MTN-Qhubeka). That's the fewest i can think of in a long time. Phinney is still recovering from injuries in last year's U.S. Nats. I'm not sure why a couple of others weren't picked for their teams.

Farrar is our local hero here. My wife actually used to work with his father until their orthopedic clinic got absorbed into a larger entity and she changed departments. His dad is one hell of an intense fella and if you ever get the chance to google some of the things he's doing since he's been paralyzed it's very interesting.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!
Please tell me you are joking.

As for Lance, he is a bully that liked filing lawsuits to punish those whom spoke the truth. He ruined multiple people's lives. A vindictive son of a bitch.
I can only hope for the very worst for Lance.
