I guess its safe to say you dont bother buying lottery tickets?!

First, Im surprised you even had the mentality to post this. Second, how your post was not littered with numerous 4 letter words is beyond me!

If spelling them wasn't beyond him it probably would have been.Wink

Though after some thought, perhaps his brain is affected by pain killers, it sure sounds painful and unpleasant. hope you get better luck with the re-fix.

Wow, doing that twice over your lifetime is crazy.

Don't be too hard on yourself, we all do dumb things. I recently mounted a brand new ladder rack and two ladders on my truck to go and destroy all of it on a low parking structure.

Not quite the same, but you're not the only idiot Wink

Meds are paracetemol, ibeprofen and endomine and are working quite well.
Although the most painful thing this morning i passed a cactus out my arse.

My three young boys are driving me nuts obviously they cant play quietly and i have learnt that my 5 year old is ferrell.

My wife is doing her best under the circumstances.

Yeah boy. Pain killers will stop your ass up for sure!! Did you get proper crutch training before leaving the hospital?
I didn't go for 12 days last year after my surgery and when I finally did it was me, god and my finger digging that motherfucker out my ass!! The post op constipation was worse than the hip fracture repair.

What's sad is that I work in the medical field. I was an RN on the ortho floor at the time so you would think I would know better than to get stopped up. I blame it on the two days I was on the dilaudid PCA pump. lol

Hi guys,
Nearly 4 weeks post op and the surgeon says the tendon is all in tact and swelling is much reduced.
Unfortunatly the wound has not healed well,
Emanciated skin, a slight infection and a hole where the wound has not closed properly.
I am at the local clinic daily for wound managment and dressing.
As the wound has not healed i have not started physio rehabilitation yet!
Slow progress overall.

I am now an expert with crutches and for those interested my bowl movements are back to normal.☺

Thanks for the venting,
Mark.

So monday i had surgery to repair an Achillies tendon patial tear, remove a spur and strenthen it with another tendon grafted from my big toe.

12 weeks off work!

All went well and was discharge the next morning.

Within an hour at home going to the bathroom i tripped on the crutches, fell and have torn the new repairs.

I now have to wait until this coming monday for surgery to repair again.

This bed at home is like a medieval rack.

Woa is me. Sorry for venting my wife wont listen to my whinning.

Years ago i fell whilst recouperating from an broken arm and rebroke the same arm.

Luckily i have cable, although the pain makes it impossible to get comfortable or to concentrate on the tv.

Get well soon bro.

Latest update.

So i have been back in the hospital, a plastic surgeon has gone in to remove the infected tissue which includes the end of the achillies, yes the recent repair has ruptured and also there was no blood flowing through the achillies tendon.

They have constantly pumping me full of antibiotic to clear this infecton.
He has to go back in on moday to remove this vacuum bandage and check on the infection again.

The plan now is to clear the infection, heal the initial wound.
After this has healed then go into my thigh and get a tendon and skin flap and do another achillies repair.

How could something so straight forward go so wrong!

More inportantly there is no cable in the hospital!

Man, sorry you are having such a bad go at it. But, I hate to say that achilles injuries aren't really straight forward. They connect way up there and can be devastating. Youll get there man!

Uh, no cable in the hospital?

A buddy of mine completely tore his achilles a year or two ago. They didn't do any surgery. They put him in a cast for 8 weeks or so with his foot pointing down. The tendons attached back on their own. Not sure how many weeks of physio it took to get his foot back into the non-ballerina pose, but he seems fine now. Good luck with it.

I completely severed my Achilles' tendon a few years back, damn hospital said I broke my leg and put in a cast for 8 weeks, when I got the cast off my foot just dangled so I went to a specialist and he said I had to put in a prosthetic Achilles' tendon, it had healed severed, and they couldn't reattach it so another 18 weeks in a cast with my foot pointed down like a ballerina, man getting around on crutches with your foot pointed down sucked

So after 26 weeks in a cast I finally get it removed and the doctor tells me for the next year it could snap off at anytime, fu@king great, thank god that didn't happen, worst moto injury I every had, got my hip replaced two years later and came back faster, hang in there man and exercise as much as possible! Work other body parts it helps with healing as blood flow to the ankles is low, I lifted free weights on my knees, shrugs, shoulder press, curls and upright rows, it really makes a difference

Hi guys update,
i was in hospital for four weeks on antibiotics feed through a picc line from under my arm into the artery just near my heart.

I had 3 surgeries to debride/ clean the wound and lat week the original surgeon was able to go in and tie together the remnants of my achillies strong enough that i will at least be able to perform day to day 55 year old activities. No motocross ever.

They closed the wound as much as possible with these big arse stiches, although the wound is still 50 mm x 20mm open and the vacumm pump is again conected.

Im back home now for 2 weeks and my wife and kids are already sick of me!

In 2 weeks they plan another surgery to close the wound more and a skin graft and that should be that.

My income insurance has been denied on the fact that it was a pre existing injury.
The initaial minor tendon inflimation started before i was insured.

With no income now and probanly 8 weeks before i can return to work on alternative duties i am selling our second family car, bummer.

Moral to the story think fully into you financial situation, anything can go wrong.
This will be probably $30,000 down the drain

Anyway i will pop back in for another update soon.Smile

Well this is it, last week i had a skin graft to cover that hole.
Have to wait 10 days to see if it has bedn sucsessful.

We remortaged the house, these funds should be avaiable soon, hopfully.
For now we are helped by our families.

Cant help but wonder what we have done wrong in life to deserve this.

I hate to be a computer quarterback but I'd be paying a visit to a different Doctor if I were you.
