Could you even make it 72 hours if there is some kind of disaster wether natural or governmental?

Personally I am working on being self sufficient for 6 months but this is a good place to start.

Living in California all my life, it's always been important to be prepared.

We have an emergency kit at the ready in the entry hall closet, and a generator in the shed.

My family can go a week very comfortably, longer if we need to.

More than a month, we might have to go all anarchist on the neighbors.

I'm good to go for a full 12 months (give or take). Have been for a long time (at least food and heat wise).

We wouldn't be eating like kings (or even like we do now), but we wouldn't starve, and we wouldn't freeze. It's a truly great feeling (being prepared).

Just this past weekend I emptied out my drums of three year old Hurricane Ike gas before it went too bad. Gotta refill them with some fresh. Filled my truck up with some six year old diesel left from Hurricane Rita. Generators always ready, got the breaker box wired for the generator. Always have twelve plus cases of water and gatorade on hand and enough propane bottles to grill outdoors for months.

Got a fully self-sufficient farm outside the country with a fresh water source, farm land, cattle and animals, and enough ammo to keep it all to myself. And more importantly, I have money in off-shore and foreign accounts as well. IF it all came to that point, why even stick around here?

Thanks Newmann for reminding me about the generator though, last time I was out there it needed new parts. I gotta check to see if they got it up and running again.

As long as you have a way to get to your brothers track using back roads your fine.

If anythings to happen I have my guns, food allotment for the family for a year, and ammo to last 12 months in Ruidoso NM at the cabin because the first thing I'll be doing is getting out of the city. I also know all the back roads/service roads to make it.

Three horses to get around on. 12 laying hens for eggs. Calf or pig in the feedlot on the hoof (depending on time of year). Spring & fall garden always going. Two water wells. DRZ400, generator, Coleman lanterns & barrel of gas if needed. (usual hurricane prep stuff for us) Safe full of firearms (including MAK90) and crazy amounts of ammo, various two-way radio systems (VHF, 10meter, sideband) to communicate with.

I am pretty good to go with most of the stuff, tortilla maker, George Forman Q, and Brita water maker. Plenty of Calvin Klein chones too. Just need a few more essentials, Pez refills and Acetone. Love the smell.

I better grab some old school printed page porn if the internet goes down. I threw all that shit out in the 90's.

I hadn't even considered losing access to the porn channel, er, I mean the internet.

Winter here would sure suck. No wood stove or fireplace in the house. I guess I'd have to jump up on the roof and chop a hole in the center and get a burn barrel going in the living room all teepee style.

I have 25 chickens, 2 goats, 7 turkeys and 4 pigs. My orchard is full of apples, pears, peaches and apricots. I've got more guns and ammo than I can shoot and we can use my mine as a cellar or a place to hide bodies.

And.... When the shit goes down, all my friends are headed to my house.
