My work van has 186k and I feel like my trans could be a time bomb. It still works perfect but all my old 700R4's only lasted about 100k if I was lucky. What kind of miles have you got? I've done the filter and oil about every 50k and I only have the 4.8l V8. Hoping it holds out a while yet.

My buddy had a 4L80 behind his 454 one ton gmc ,he pulled an overweight trailer everyday for at least a year straight .That truck was used as a tow vehicle for at least 4 years and the transmission never missed a shift.

It's better than the 700R4. I have the 6L80E with 110K and not worried at all.

Keep up on oil changes and don't worry about it. Although at almost 200k miles, it wouldn't hurt to start setting money aside for a rebuild or new truck.

Mine had an oil pump housing gasket blow with 90K on it also the trans cooler lines are junk and will stsrt to leak around the same time.

As for the 4.8L mine locked up with no warning at 102K. Never over heated no knocking yet ran fine went into work came out and locked up solid. Had oil pan pulled it was full of metal as well as pump screen. Used Pennzoil platinum and never had consumption issues.

This is the last GM vehicle I will ever own
