Getting the boat ready (Annual boat thread)

3/20/2014 4:42pm Edited Date/Time 8/12/2015 12:21pm
I've been getting some stuff together for my boat. I'm pretty pumped for good weather as I like to take James Stewart summers. (Back when he was supercross only.) So far I've done a new steering cable, trailer and head unit. I also got 1100 lbs of ballast, 2 550 lbs bags. I still need some speakers and an amp to finish off the stereo and a bimini for some shade. I've been out once for a test run, I may try to get some surfing in this weekend.

Nice pics! We added a Bimini last summer, best $800 we ever spent!!

Our lakes still have 2+ feet of ice! Going to be a while before we get the boat out..really looking forward to summer this year after the long cold winter.

We mostly surf- have a 1100 in the left rear and 400 in the locker..

My daughter finally old enough to drive..

What is the ballast for? Making a bigger wake?

I prefer surfing because it's slow speed- 10mph- and falling is low impact on the body!

Your boat is nice man. I really want to upgrade to a V-drive. Maybe I can by the time my kids are old enough to drive.

I used to wakeboard behind a jet ski. No wake so all you could really do is see how fast you could get going. It's really fun when the driver cuts really hard one way and you're sling shotting around the outside. Not so much fun when it comes unglued.

Never tried wake skating. I have a buddy that has a wake boat now so I'll probably go join him this summer and see what it's all about. They do night surfing. Sounds like an awesome time to me.

I'm an old dude. Back in college was the last time I went tubing. I remember saying I would never do that again. My jackass friends would drive like crazies and eventually toss the rider. it hurt.
So I went tubing last summer and sure enough, the driver started whipping me around. flipped me off and my neck and back hurt for 2 weeks. My body can't handle that crap anymore.
I agree, the slow 10mph stuff is for me.

Enjoy your hole in the water you put money into. Smile
(I'm jealous)

Just took the plunge this spring and ordered a new Malibu Wakesetter with the surfgate. Finally sold my 15 year old Supra and decided it was time to get a boat to surf behind. Wakeboarding is getting hard on the old knees, and I need those intact for MX. Wakesurfing here I come...

I've been in a boat at least 4 days a week for way to long now. I am so sunburnt right now it's silly. I used to wakeboard a lot. Darren Shapiro was one of my best friends in middle school and we all had passes to ski rixen and would ride everything from skateboard decks to McDonald's trays there. We surfed and learned how to ride dirtbikes together. My tower bay boat has eye on top of tower 13'

Maybe if i owned an ice breaker , the lake ice is so thick here that guys are running out of travel on their augers and need to use extensions.

Nice pics Huck. There's plenty of spots to pull up and hang out around here. I love Coastal Carolina for boating.

It's almost boat weather here in NC. I checked the battery and starter off my list today. Now I need an oil change and I'm ready. I should take it out on it's maiden 2015 voyage next weekend.

I wake surfed for the first time a few weeks ago. It was fun but I am goofy footed and had to ride backside which was ok but wish I could try the other side. The boat owner said there was no way to ride backside but I saw on YouTube that lots of people do so I did and it was good. Very fun

Salmon and Steelhead are in my future! My dad and I built this back in 1990 and I finally get to take it out this year after about a 10 year break!
