So just in English? Surprised it's not a 10 pager if they really think people need that.

Haven't bought a new vehicle in awhile, can't imagine what other information/warning tags they have in them.

Has to be a whole bunch or yellow or red warning stickers under the hood, maybe they label every component now. Laughing

The Owner's Manuals must be impressive as well.

I'm thinking it has more to do with some fragile transmissions and trying to reduce warranty claims than anything else.

Ford crapped the bed with the dual clutch auto that they were putting in the Focus, it isn't hard to imagine them screwing up a manual also. 2 seconds seems like a huge amount of time to wait but they very well could have screwed up a gearbox enough that you would need to wait that long.

You're right about that. I drove a focus for a little while as a work vehicle and that clutch was a pile of shit. Had to take it in to the dealer to get it fixed after it decided to stall out right when I pulled out into 50 mph traffic. That was unnerving

When my son turned 16 we got him a used Ford Ranger with manual shift. (high mileage on the odo but ran good, perfect low priced starter vehicle) At that point he knew he was going into the USMC after high school and there was no way I was gonna send my son into the world not knowing how to drive a standard transmission, and be able to drive it very good in all scenarios of traffic and conditions (red light on a steep grade, etc).

My dad did the same with me , multiple burnouts later i figured out not to rev the engine and side step the clutch when taking off on an incline.

MUST be important, says "Dealer do not remove" Should start putting that into Semi's, at least the ones that don't have an auto-shift. Nothing quite like watching some retard rolling forward, and trying (notice I said TRYING) to get a Fuller transmission into reverse, without being stopped. Blink I swear, this business is full of idiots who couldn't get a job at McDonalds.

Imagine a manual like that on one of Kenworth W900's with the 3 sticks?
It'd be 10 pages long and the last words would be, "Good luck with all that".

You should try the three on the tree shifter. I test drove a classic ford truck when I was about 16 or 17. I really wanted a classic truck when I was that age and that truck had NO power at all. But the shifting was rather interesting. Now that I'm a bit older, I want one more than ever but I have too many hobbies and projects to take on another like a full restoration.

My last daily beater was a 5 speed cavalier and now the ST is a 6 speed , I just enjoy driving a manual transmission vehicle ,it's a shame they won't sell a half ton truck with a stick ,but nobody really wants them I guess.

Yep. I'd buy one also. Your only real option in a truck is either a Tacoma, or a diesel.

My ole 12-valve has the NV4500 5-speed and 4.10s out back. Just recently rebuilt it and put in a new Valair clutch too. No more grindin' on 3rd gear. (stinkin' syncros died)

Soon as I get the front end rebuilt its headed to Newmanns for a facelift. Woohoo

hah

my first truck was a '90 GMC work truck with 5-speed manual, man i miss that truck. the speedo only went to 90 but then it'd start coming back up the other side. i don't know how fast she'd go but i'm guessing in the 115 to 120 range. the 350 in that truck remains the most impressive gas motor i've ever owned. i love my Eco with auto, but there's something that feels great about manual shift

First manual transmission that I learned on was starting at around age 11 on one of our old Willys CJ2 or CJ3s. Those things were crazy. Only drove 3 or 4 column shifts for any length of time, never enough to really get used to them. Drove automatics of my parents while I had my permit and to test for my license but my first car was a stick and every car after until about age 39, although my work supplied vehicles were autos.

I like driving manuals in the right vehicle now, but I'm okay not having to row gears in traffic.....

The dual clutch auto insurance my wife's Focus was absolutely unsafe. It definitely gave that impression of "stalling out" often, despite all the service bulletins and software upgrades we had done to it.

The oddest thing that happened to it was when my wife was in Seattle visiting our son, about 3 hours from home at the time. Driving downtown, a warning message came on that said that the transmission was overheating. Seattle has a few hills so when she called me I assumed she'd been "hill holding" with the accelerator too much. She actually parked the car for a few hours and everything was good for a while but then the warning reappeared while driving on flat interstate.

Had the car towed to a Ford dealer and I call them up to find out what's going on with it. Their explanation was that it was a software glitch and that the transmission wasn't actually overheating. I asked them if the data showed what the max temps had been and they explained that there isn't an actual temp sensor in the transmission, the computer simply calculates what it believes the temperature "should be" based on current conditions.

Got rid of that thing not too much later, despite Ford lengthening the warranty on the transmission.

I was driving Pop's 1970 Toyota Land Cruiser when I was 8.....3 speed man. We had a long driveway in Tampa and he would let me drive to one end then I would back up to the other end. I had trouble reaching the peddles, my foot slipped off the brake I hit the gas and ran it up a palm tree...

Remember the chevy turbo350 and 400 3 speed auto transmissions? You'd be at 3k rpm @ 60mph

I know Ford has been having issues with the new auto, but I think the stick is issue free. I test drove a Fiesta awhile back, and that had to be one of the smoothest sticks I've ever driven. Makes my Chevy feel like a box truck.
It'll be interesting to see if Ford gets the automated manual working good. It's been tried many times but never seems to be real successful. A computer just can't operate a clutch like a human

Lol, the ol' 3 on the tree.

First standard I Iearned on and drove. An old Ford out at my grandparent's farm. Had some on the floor standards with the floor mounted starters too.

Great times.
