You lived in Alaska when it was still the real pre-pipe line Alaska. Pretty Cool. My hat is off to you.

I lived on the Bearing Sea coast (Dillingham) from 1988 - 1994 and then SE (Juneau) for another 5 years. Good place Alaska is.

That boat that sinks in the trailer has been stripped of everything inside it. Wonder why they sank it

watched it last night. why would anybody try this for a living? some kid thinks he's tough and finds out the grind is beyond his wildest miserable dreams. I would guess 95% who try, drop out before the season is over or only last 1 season.
is it a requirement you be a smoker to be a crabber?

I believe his ashes were in a custom painted motorcycle tank, right?

I did a little research to see what the money is like. Alaskankingcrab.com is saying that a deckhand makes around 43k, I assume that is for one trip.

I'm not very familiar with how often they are allowed to go out per year, but if you can go out twice a year that isn't too bad..

My mom knows a guy whose son is a crabber. He flies up there to work 2 or 3 times a year and makes over 100k a year. It depends on the catch, though. If you have a shit catch, you get the base pay
