Hell yes, i love those things... I am currently seeking a clean early 70's Firebird or Camaro.. I would even take a Formula, i like those too, earlier model the better, but Shit o dear they are getting spendy. I am seriously considering it as an investment. Crapola look where the Stock Market is.. These old cars are never going to depreciate.

Thanks Newman!

This was my high school car:

This is what i am looking for:

This is what i want to look like when im done:

Here is the car I should have NEVER sold:

I'm not badass enough to drive any of those cars. Very cool.

Every HS kid in my school with a Camaro had ladder bars on it. Snubbed up like they were going to the drag strip.

My GOAT didn't use no stinkin' ladder bars. Coil springs baby!

I moved from the GTO to a 1974 SD455 Trans Am and noticed the ladies much preferred the more refined ride.

Rosebud has inspired me to dig out some old pictures and scan them. The Good old days!

I've been giving this pro touring 69 Camaro some thought. Not exactly what I want but I do not have the time or desire to build a car from scratch. I could make a few changes to this one and be cool with it. Having trouble getting underbody pics from the owner and Portland is a bit far for me to hop over and take a look myself. Love the COPO look but with modern fuel injected drivetrain. Wheels and hood would be the first to be changed. Then maybe a LSA connect & cruise. Anybody in the market for a 1000 mile 572 crate engine?

Here's one my buddy and I did a few years back ,the plan was to sell it but he fell in love with it and kept it . The original owner was Rick Martin of the Buffalo sabres, he even tracked down the original license plates from Quebec. His dad was sitting at a poker table next to Rick Martins agent one night, just out of dumb luck and the car came up in conversation ,he said he had the plates still and ended up mailing them to him.

That's a cool story for a cool car..

I had not even sat down in an second gen car for about 20 years, than i ran across a sweet 78 z28 at a specialty lot and OH Man the flood of memories it brought back, i immediately re-fell in love with that body and interior.. I say they have aged extremely well.. I forgot how small they are compared to today's cars..

here is a super built 79',

They can be made to stop and turn with a little $$, brakes and suspension are easy..

Those front ends are beyond cool. Wish Pontiac had kept them way back when. They also seem like a more effective design for cooling the engine a bit.

Same here. I love the American muscle, but I like a little more than straight line acceleration.

I love the look and sound, too, just not the driving experience.

You just need to do a little Pro-Touring research. Lots of neat stuff out there today. That's what I am after, an old car that is updated modern drivetrain and suspension. It can get real spendy, real quick. But I just turned 50...Woohoo

Check this one out.

You have the right idea for sure..

I am afraid i would be spending to much $$ making the 1 gen cars handle and stop.. I am looking for a good weekend cruiser not so much an autocrosser.. But Oh God that blue 69 is Super Nice!!

If I was going to do the old car with modern drivetrain and suspension, I'd go for one of these Singers:

I have no idea why, but lately I've been really into checking out el camino's. Growing up, I always thought they were the ugliest thing in the world, but now I want one.

Funny how our taste changes over the years..

I also like cars now i used to Hate, I'm starting to like the mid 70's corvettes, not sure why, They had low HP low compression, did not handle so well, But.. they are still cheap, so simple also pretty cool in real life..
