This school is a few miles from my house...I heard all the sirens yesterday and thought something big was going down (then I turned on the news).

He was a coach at the College of Eastern Utah (now Utah State University-Eastern) which is in my home town (small town of 8500)...I've spoken with him several times, and even played some pick up games with a few times (he is-was?-a great player)...he was like 25 or something when he was the head coach, and he looked like one of the players-super baby faced...led the team to a national championship or something, it was a big huge deal in that small town.

As much as he is claiming to be a jihadist...I think he's just mentally ill. He posted a manifesto on his blog (I'll see if I can find it) and it was a bunch of non-sense...scriptures (christian scriptures, mind you-odd coming from a Muslim) mixed with rants about professional athletes and racism. He's just nutso...not a jihadist. He's probably not even really Muslim...and certainly has no association with ISIS...
