My vote goes to interstellar. Pretty much a masterpiece of story telling, acting, stunning visual effects and music. Just a wonderful movie. I cry every damn time certain scenes also.

Interstellar is real good, great special effects (bluray/big screen/surround system is a must).

Of the same genre (and same director), I think I would go with Inception over it though. The concept of the story is just more of a mindfuck for me.

No Country for Old Men is probably at or near the top of my 'best of the last decade' list though. Such a good film.

It's never easy to give one film the "Best of the Decade" award.

So, here's some that are at the top of my list. No specific order:

No Country for Old Men
Hell or High Water
There Will Be Blood
O Brother, Where Art Thou? (came out in 2000 so technically doesn't qualify, but still)
The Dark Knight

I'm not good with movie dates. Saving Private Ryan is up there.

Im not sure if you mean the last complete decade, 2000-2009, or "of" the last decade, 2010-present. Since its just for chuckles, Ill do both.

2000-2009: I waiver between Memento and Donnie Darko.

2010-present: The Town.

Honorable mentiion: Boyhood.

One thing about Boyhood, that most people dont know, is that it was a story told of around ten years. So, they filmed it for 10 years, with the same actors. Including the boy, whom you actually see grow up. You also witness the maturation of the characters in real time.

The few movies I watch anymore are usually old ones that I've seen before so my vote is watered down. "Hateful Eight" and "The Revenant" are a couple of recent flicks I liked.

Thanks, I'll check it out. I watched "Road to Perdition" recently and thought it a good movie. I wouldn't put it above "No Country for Old Men" or some of the others already mentioned.

"The Departed" for me, even Mark Wahlberg was good in it. Plus Nicholsen, Decaprio, Damon, Alec Baldwin, and Martin Short in prime form. Also the guy who played French was awesome.

Still need to check interstellar out. Horrible on dates, but they're a few Leo movies such as departed and shutter island that are good. Django and hateful eight are up there also in my opinion. Going way back... really liked crash.

Will give interstellar a shot. Not that big on scifi, unless it's comedy like Mars Attacks or The 5th Element, but it might surprise me.

I think I may be one of the few who didn't like Interstellar. I would give it about a 2 out of 10.

Interstellar is better the second and third time which tells alot about how good a movie it is and you just pay attention to a few more things.

I've never seen country for old men. I'll check it out.

Im kinda like void, Interstellar, just didn't do much for me. It wasnt bad, but I guess I didnt pay enough attention. It kind of felt like an M. Night Shamalan(sp?) film. I'll give it another go.

Watched Interstellar. The first 30 minutes were pretty good. The next 12 hours were agonizing. Should have trusted my instincts. I hung on till the end so I could say I watched the whole thing. Big mistake.

There Will Be Blood and No Country for Old Men as GD2 mentioned for Best Dramas. Will also throw in "In Bruges" for best comedy, Wall-E for best animation, The Raid: Redemption/The Raid 2 for best action, The Hunt for best foreign film, Gone Girl for best thriller (if it can be called such, just wanted to include it), Arrival for best alien movie, Sicario for best movie about Mexicans, The Revenant for best looking movie. That'll do.

My vote goes to Lawless. And The Place Beyond the Pines is absolutely fantastic. I'm not sure it's as well known as some movies listed here but I highly recommend you guys checking it out. It's actually on Netflix right now.
