I'm basically an all woods rider anymore and have been reading a bunch about a stearing damper. I hit a lot of trees. Tons of rock and roots where I am. Super tight rough single track. Would I really benefit? Do you like yours?

The moto board must be broke,i cant get in.

I thru my 08 crf damper in the tool box, dont see the need.

Looks like in the woods for quick change of direction in the tight stuff it would be a disadvantage.

I run a GPR V4 everywhere (even moto tracks)...and yes I'd say you'd benefit. It, like the Scotts, is adjustable...so you can turn it up or down as much as you need to.

I run it pretty stiff in the wide open desert...and turn it way down for woods single track riding, but not all the way off.

When I get tired at the end of a 100 mile hare and hound...that thing becomes a huge crutch for me, and I"ll turn that thing all the way up and just hold on. lol

Are HillBilly and I the only ones that can't access the moto section?

I ran one on my 4 ts, really helpful in rock rutted and roots. Had a Scotts and a GPR ( first Gen) moved it to the zx10 after getting the Scotts.

At least you didn't call it a dampener!

For sand, rocks, roots, and tree deflections one can't beat them. After awhile you don't even notice it, unless you take it off.

Hillbilly, they can be adjusted to shut off during your last 20% or so , like on a sharp turn. Also can adjust how much resistance you want.

IMO, a steering stabilizer is a piece of safety equipment, much like your helmet or boots.

Why?

Because they save you from that unexpected front wheel jolt that will often times send you ass over teakettle.

Scotts is the best, IMO, as it always allows free movement back to center, and any movement away from center is damped. It is always "self correcting".

They are an investment in your health. (A by-product is that they also help you go faster for longer.)

This is my main reason for wanting one. I've "clipped" trees pretty damn hard and found myself ping ponging off the next 3 before finally being tossed. I'm hoping a damper would take the edge off that first tree and also help with the hidden roots and other sharp edge hits. Thanks for the response.
