Anyone here into hiking/traveling? Here is a video I just finished up from an out west trip I went on. Let me know what y'all think.

Hiking is one of the big 3 for me, MX and MTB are the ther 2. Mostly a day hiker, never done an overnighter or extended trip. But I do fantasize about an AT thru hike someday.

What section? I've done most of it.

You should do the Eagle Rock Loop. It's spectacular and in your area.

Hiker/backpacker here. Cool video.

I've hiked most of the Ozark Highlands Trail, thru-hiked the Foothills Trail in South Carolina, and done several sections of the AT up to West Virginia. Headed up to do the John Muir Trail in August.
Once my kids are grown and moved out, I'm planning a thru of the AT.

If any of you want to watch some spectacular hiking/backpacking documentaries, watch 'Mile, Mile and a Half' or 'As It Happens'. Some truly awesome world out there to see. We just need to learn to get out there and go find it.

My partner at work said his daughter and her boyfriend hiked some trail out west that was like 4600 miles and took them 7 months . That seems nuts. He would mail them supplies to the next city they were getting near to replenish their supplies.

4600 miles in 7 months is hauling ass.
Probably the PCT, which is roughly 2600 miles. It's on my list, but I wanna tackle the AT (2200 miles) first.

If any of you follow any blogs or social media pages of hikers, you need to find The Real Hiking Viking and Lost on the Appalachian Trail (Kyle Rohrig) and follow their journeys. TRHV is a damn monster. He south bound thru hiked the AT this past season and started in Maine in the dead of winter. Far as I know, he's the only one to have ever done it.

Still trying to decide. Most likely hurricane creek area but open to any of it really. There is 4 of us that are all best friends and we only have a couple sections of the buffalo remaining until we've floated and camp it all, so the OHT is our next goal.

Lake Ft Smith to Cherry Bend at Highway 23 is cool.
I want to go back with my friend and knock out the Buffalo River Trail, then float for a few days.

Walking you do on sidewalks and flat areas. Hiking takes place on trails that can be quite rugged.

Go for a section hike. Some great sections up in TN and NC.
I've done Hot Springs NC to Damascus, VA. Roughly 200 miles. Took me right at 12 days. Some beautiful areas and history all along there.

Hiked a few miles with the family up Pacific Valley in Ebbetts Pass this weekend.

I hike with a rifle looking for Bambi. Seriously though I do a lot hunting and fishing near sections of the PCT. I have also hiked a few peaks in the San Gabriel Mtns and San Bernardino Peak. My favorite areas are the Upper Kern River basin above the forks and the Eastern Sierras. California has tons of hiking opportunities. There is talk of a new trail following the old Butterfield Stage line.
