Sportbike racing in America appears to be dead.......sad to see the AMA road racing schedule look so terrible. I remember when I was younger going to the races in Brainerd, MN and being in awe of the speed those guys were going. Now it appears the series is going the way of AMA Supermoto. You can see the tentative schedule here Schedule

That is heartbreaking.

I raced many Nationals in the early 1990's, and they were very healthy at the time. Hopefully they will have a rebirth someday.

Till you have done a trackday or race on a sportbike, dont ever complain about a weekend practice for MX......it would cost me close to $1000 for a weekend practice on my sportbikes, thats $300 tires, $150 a day x 2 for practice, $20 per person gate fee, I would go through 10 gallons of fuel, 100 x 2 a night for hotel, then about a $100 for food for the weekend....closest track to me was 3 hours away.......good thing was a lot of the times, I would be a control rider for the track, or the promoter of the trackday and that would wave the $300 of practice fee, but still a shit ton of money for 8 twenty min sessions.....and if you ever tossed a bike down the track, repairs can add up quick

Seems like it's been a downward spiral since "the take-over"...

I realize it is not even close to the same thing, but they can get over 60,000 to the Moto GP race in Austin. One would think they could at least get 20,000 to an AMA race.

Pretty much like everyone else I think it sucks. Smile But, what can we do? It looks like I'm going to be riding Barber in march. I'll try to warm the track up for them. Smile

the writing was on the wall when the National Guard and Geico pulled out, along with MJM and EBR. Yamaha must have thrown the checkbook at Cameron Beaubier to stay here instead of going to Moto2.

Ill be there at Daytona and plan for Barber, my only question besides the joke of schedule is why put Barber during the hottest month of the year?

Is PPIR running any races anymore? seems it opens and then gets shut down over and over.

Ya, they have different things going on. Here is this years schedule.

The Nascar guys still rent the track for dialing in chassis as well.
