instructor accidently got shot, there is some video up to the incident. More stupid shit, I like shooting guns too.

her parents are retards, she WAS old enough @ this fucking range, how about a fucking BB gun or a 22 rifle.

the short barrel got him killed, she is too young to handle a pistol. Edit, failed to mention instructor was killed.

A fully automatic gun in the hands of a 9 year old girl...what a wonderful idea.

Hell, a grown adult has a hard time keeping the barrel down when you squeeze one of those.

This is a bad case of parents wanting to brag about how "THEIR KID" had done some miraculous thing ......like in this case fire an automatic weapon. Theres no doubt in my mind that it would have been all over facebook had it not gone horribly wrong!

Im all for guns and gun ownership but im also an advocate of proper education and training in which to handle them responsibly. This was anything but THAT!

There are right and wrong ways to go about teaching kids ..........even had this accident not happened......putting a child behind THAT type of weapon was the WRONG thing to do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Range is here in Northwest AZ, about 20 min from the Hoover Dam. The min age requirement is 8.

It's sad that now that girl is going to have to live the rest of her life knowing that she killed another person. Though it was an accident, that's a heavy burden to carry. Kids and guns don't mix and she should have never had a gun in here hand.

I found an article with a video. She shot one bullet and then he says "alright you're ready for full auto." and then it cuts off after a few bullets. I wonder how much experience the parents had shooting fully automatic weapons? Article

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

Giving a small child an uncontrollable object that sprays lots of bullets just doesn't sound like a good idea.

There was an incident just as dumb as this 2 or 3 weeks back where some parents bought their kid a .22lr and then quite happily let him loose with it unsupervised. As a result he accidentally killed himself. Another incident in Russia last year where a 12 yr old kid was left playing with a rifle at a range whilst people were "ON" the range collecting their targets! Again, the result was tragically predictable. Stories like this are frustrating, as well as tragic.

I have no problem with kids of a certain age taking up the sport (I take my nephew shooting). It's brilliant fun and everyone loves it. But they simply have to be constantly supervised every step of the way. Regardless of the calibre (even a .22lr can kill you from over a mile away) you can never, ever, ever switch off from what they're doing and you should literally never be more than a foot away whilst instructing and monitoring every action they make. To be fair, the guy in the vid was close enough. But then giving someone that age a firearm with fully automatic capability... and then telling them to use it.... Also as the OP mentioned, someone that age should really be on something smaller (a .22lr is a good start) and with a longer barrel.

At what age do they get a weapon in al-Qaeda? Probably a Anti Government activist Family gone awry.
Shame that the little girl had such dumb fuck parents. Whats the problem with a 20 LBS pull bow or BB gun as stated?

The family is from New Jersey, I would say no experience, only a dumbass will blame New Jersey strict gun laws or
Arizona gun laws.
she weighs about 60 lbs & the instructors last words were "all right, full auto".

While the parents own some blame so does this instructor. I watched the clip and he shows her how to hold it, how to stand ect., and then lets her take one shot before going ok, here's full auto.

The dead guy owns all the responsibility for that. The isn't much to grip or brace on that gun. It was free to swivel on the pistol grip. People don't realize how fast full auto is. 30 rounds are gone in about 2 seconds flat.

I've seen young children shoot full auto before, but they were all good shooters by that time. the instructor should have said no.

That's so sad. There was a boy also that got killed shooting an oozi when it recoiled on him. Young boy like 9 also.

Feel so bad for the kids. There so little. They should not be shooting those guns. Way too much recoil. Just dangerous.

That was a tragic situation waiting to happen. And it did...that wasn't a wise decision and now that kid is going to have to deal with it for the rest of their days. Parents and other Adult parties involved should have used better judgment.

Proper machine gun for a kid. Smile My youngest demonstrates from when he was about 13 or so.

There is an interesting parallel you could draw here with youth mx.
I am sure there are people (non-riders) that think that even if just one kid died in youth mx, it should be banned.

I guess you could argue that handing a kid an Uzi would be like putting a 65cc rider on a 450. But is any gun safe in the hands of a 9-year-old?

Youth sized guns and proper supervision is a good thing. Teach them firearm safety, respect and responsibility from a young age.
